No need to use the automatic white balance tool to check RGB values. Simply right click your viewer and check "show picker RGB value" Now whenever you pick the qualifier tool (bottom left corner of the viewer) you are presented the RGB values.

If you use dual screens you can have your cake and eat it too. You can have light box, node tree, scopes and much more right in front of you. A HUGE time saver being able to see all your controls at a glance. You can modify your desktop and save different versions of it under “Workspace”and “Layout Presets”.

I absolutely agree. I'm always a triple monitor set up, 2 GUI, 1 reference. However showcasing multiple display techniques through screen capture without it looking jumbled is a bit of a task. I guess I could just set up a camera pointing at the two monitors and proceed like that.

That's odd. You don't have any other viewer tools on? Like highlight or image wipe or something? As far as I'm aware no check boxes are required to achieve this result.

Another good one Nathan. You have done your homework. One tip to further these great tips - the Still reference wipe - when doing a match - sliding the reference across doesn't always get what you want to see - so adding to your good info there. People should know that if they have a wipe that they can go to the sizing pane ( second from the end in the middle, bottom placement ) that they can start with the input resizing ( default ) and zoom in - pan tilt etc to get what they want to match and then on the dropdown - go to Reference sizing and - again, zoom, pan, tilt etc. so that something different angles to match skin tones or anything else - they can fill the two parts of the wipe and have basically anything sitting side by side and match. The only caveat is that you have to remember to refresh the settings back to normal.
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim. That's a great tip, however I find it doesn't work when wiping a timeline clip for me. Apparently it's a bug that has yet to be addressed for certain systems. So I left it out, but if you're able to get it to work then yes absolutely, great tip.

Hey could you plz. Help me i have bought a high specs laptop video editing and i am using davinci but i face a hanging issues for playback and fusion tab and edit tab could you please tell how can i solve that problem
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Great questions. What are your specs? And what types of things are you trying to do, what kind of workflow are you using, and finally what files are you working with? Once I have that I may be able to give you some tips.
@stylenaalsingh7024 жыл бұрын
Nathan Carter well basically i have i7 9th gen Intel processor 16gb ram 1tb storage And i shoot almost all of my videos in iphone xs max 4k 60fps settings And i edit music music videos short films and music videos with that but i get so much of truoble while i want to see the smooth playback but the hang issues is like uuhhhh
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Gotcha, so the thing with Resolve is that it's actually fairly GPU intensive (unlike Premiere Pro which is CPU intensive). I can see that having issues on a 4k 60p timeline. Have you considered generating optimized media for the editing process? Could be easier on your machine than the (probably) H264 codec coming directly out of the iPhone. You could also work on an HD Timeline, then change project settings back to 4K before export. With fusion the recommended requirement for Ram is 32GB so I would imagine that wouldn't go super well. There are EgPU's that I've seen people use when working on a laptop. It's basically a desktop quality GPU that plugs in externally to a laptop though I've never used one so I can't speak directly to any improvements you may see. I hope some of that helps.

So many Resolve channels take the approach of offering very specific solutions to particular issues. I'm a classic example of the result of this in that I have islands if knowledge that I stick together in some sort of unholy union to form a very poor workflow. On this channel I feel like I'm finally actually learning to use Resolve in a holistic way. Well done!
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. That something I'm really trying to move towards. I've always thought understanding how something works is usually gonna do you more good than just being able to do it one specific way, because if you need to make adjustments then you're prepared to adapt to fit the situation.

off topic question - How do you do the counting digits up to 2000 ( starting at 0:08)?
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Haha I was hoping no one would ask how I did that cause it was super jank. I'm sure there's a better way, but I made a text plus node in fusion, and went into modifiers. I then set the mode to timer and only enabled the seconds and then keyframed the minutes and seconds to hit the desired number. If i wasn't rushing I probably could have figured something more elegant out, but this worked for the moment.
@SpaceMuisGaming4 жыл бұрын

OMG where has this video been all my life? this is a life saver! Question - Is it mandatory to always park the lift and gain between the limits of the parade? Or we can go beyond if the image asks?
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Thank, great question. So the limits on the parade show the levels that you can display. If you go beyond those bound then you're clipping. I wouldn't say it's ideal, but you can do it, sometimes you need to crush the blacks or really blow out the sky or a window just depend on the shot you're working with.

As a developer, I find Davinci Resolve not flexible enough, and multiple groups make total sense - noise reduction is perfect example: I want the same noise reduction on most clips, but I want to color correct independently. It's also a bummer that versions don't work with groups. This basically makes them useless for me:(
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
You can color correct independently on the clip node graph of a grouped clip. The version incompatibility with groups I find a little frustrating though. My work around has been using a still of the post clip graph (or per clip) as a version substitute, but then you have to manage your gallery and pull up the still you're looking for instead of just pressing ctrl b. I hoping for a better solution in the future.
