I realize that I am part of an older conception of Opera is supposed to be sung and performed but does it not matter to anyone that most of this is Out Of Tune there's little-to-no bottom voice the middle voice is incorrectly sung with no substantial vocal quality or line to speak of. I have known and worked with many many find Korean singers but I don't believe this fellow is one of them

He's a lyric tenor however not a dramatic one which is what the role of Faust requires

@@twotontenor everything. If you're forcing your voice then you're far more likely to go sharp , it's something I've seen many many times across the years

@@crazyorganist1609 perhaps the singer is a friend of yours or relative, I was merely reacting to a post that was sent to me. I have no axe to grind with either you or the tenor, but if you knew anything about Faust, the role was originally written for and sung by bigger tenor voices such as Jean DeReske and Caruso. It's been that way since it's inception, only recently has it been changed to accommodate the lack of bigger voices. If you don't believe me, please read the history of the part and hopefully you might understand that what you're saying has nothing to do with singing in tune. Normally, if the voice is balanced you sing in tune, and the case of this young tenor his voice is out of balance and therefore out of tune and lacking bottom as I said before. In any case, please understand I mean no disrespect. Have a pleasant day.

I just reread your original post and I think we're actually on the same page. I didn't quite understand what you were saying in your earlier statement but now I get it and you're correct, the role is written for a bigger, heavier voice and therefore this tenor is over matched by the music. No Bel Canto technique yet again. These modern day singers destroy their voices by not learning proper breathing techniques and push their voices to where they're not supposed to go. I'm a trained organist and accompanist and Ive been doing this job for 25 years and these modern opera singers have no proper technique whatsoever. It's extremely sad. This tenor voice isn't powerful enough for Faust. Faust is a dramatic role not a lyric one. His voice has no depth or dramatic intent whatsoever. Chest voice is non existent
