Ten-Tec Eagle Amateur Radio HF Transceiver Review

I recorded this video when I bought this radio in the summer of 2014. Since then, the Ten-Tec name has been bought and sold and as of spring 2019, they aren't yet back in production. I'm still using this fine radio, however! All of the bugs are worked out and its still performing well.
*A note about advertisements in my videos*
I do not monetize my videos. That means that I do NOT place advertisements before, during, or after my videos. However, a recent change by KZbin allows KZbin to place advertisements with my videos. I do not support this change but don't have a way to opt out. I don't want ads before, during, or after my videos, but am powerless to stop it short of leaving KZbin.

I bought the Omni VII+. Ten Tec now manufacturing. Better build. Metal front. Fabulous receiver. I get great audio reports. I hope they keep it up.

I don't think they are building the OMNI VII +, i left my email address in their site to be warned when the radio would be available again, but it's been a year now, and no news from TT _ Do you have any news ?- tnx IZ6FWF

Excellent choice! However, they don't seem to be making ham radio equipment at the moment. They keep saying they are going to resume production of the Eagle and similar radios but haven't done so yet.

Their website is up and running. But there are dates of 2016 associated with posts. Looks like they are ready for business. Strange.

I use mine more and more /p with a Bioenno 12Ah pack. I can go about 8 hours on 35W CW with plenty of power to spare at the end (I can’t go any longer). Works great on the tailgate of my truck, on a picnic table, or soon from my backpack once I work out a side rail system for it, it will never replace my KX2 as my goto backpack rig, but it’s a joy to operate. I am CW only and have no problems with the speaker. In fact, I really like the speaker, it seems to accentuate CW signals and makes them easy to hear and decode. I do wish it had a memory keyer though… W1ND

The debuted a new Omni VII+ at Dayton, and its on the website. They are now testing the Eagle Plus, should be out in September.

Just got one a few weeks ago, used on ebay. Not sure if it was a scam or not but I took the chance and it turned out not only to be a good radio, but looks as if it was never used. Paid over 800 on an offer. Its an ok radio, but I'm thinking about surrendering to SDR technologies. Namely the Flex. I can hear weaker stations on my SDRplay than on my Eagle so. . .

Unfortunately no Ext. RX ant port, distorted audio on SPKR, noisy RX, poor AGC, useless NB, RIT usage is clumsy, just single mem ATU per band... sorry to say it is not hilarious radio (and yes I am the TT fan!)

11:05 just the note > mentioned board is not ATU but LPF board. The ATU (if installed) is placed on the bottom of radio...
