Best explanation on mental fortitude I’ve heard. I’m stealing “clock in.” 💪

Thanks again for the clinics! It taught me a LOT about my bad habits/tendencies and what I need to keep working on. Planning on seeing you guys again next year!

This was exactly the pep talk I needed to get me back on my game after a few months away due to my injury at Beaverfest. Looking forward to seeing you and your crew out on the moose in '23. Thank you!!!!

We were just wondering how you're doing! Reattachment surgery?
@jordom1152 жыл бұрын
@@AlexBarham Yes! Reattached and I had an amazing surgeon. Back to full strength as far as the injury is concerned and I’m now working on rebuilding muscle. I’ve been out on my local Sacandaga run a few times and will be ready for an epic spring/summer… also, I picked up a supernova and am absolutely in love.

Might have to play this on the way to river this year. In year 3, being in that transition to more class 4 runs, I'm no longer blissfully ignorant, I have some battle scars. And it's not always blatant fear that's in question, sometimes it's just deciding how uncomfortable you want to make yourself on a given day. What's interesting is how subtle the effects of that can be. I'm finding myself taking a safer line once in a while or only trying a move a couple times where I might have spent 20 min on that feature previously. And while there are days when that's ok, I'm increasing aware that the initial quick rise up the learning curve is over and I now have to fight the plateau effect. Thanks for putting this together.

You're welcome. Yeah I've thought about doing something to that end. Maybe I will revisit that if people are enjoying these.

Well said. I have been progressing well, moving from 3 to 4. I felt solid. Then I had a weird swim. Then another and another. I felt like I was losing my edge. Like I lost my roll. I lost my confidence. I'm working on it now. It hasn't stopped my paddling but it has messed up my mental game.

Thanks! Stick it out! The results are worth it!

Well said Alex, I’m at a point now venturing into solid 4 with occasional 5 that I’m having to exercise these kinds of thought. Great reminder not to sleep on the mental game, it’s half the battle.

Hope it helps! Baby steps, repetition and maximizing your time in the seat are always the ticket
