Hey Hannah...! Female paddler here. I would say intermediate, maybe high end on those seasons where I can get out. But that's not always the case when life gets in the way. So I am about 5'5" and weigh maybe 115-118 lbs. So I have a harder time with these bigger boats. Any recommendations? I have a Jackson rockstar small, but looking to add to fleet! 🙂 Was actually thinking of Dagger Rewind XS kids boat, but maybe I'm too tall?🤣Like pulling teeth sometimes trying to figure it out. THANKS! It's nice to see ripping female paddlers giving their 2 cents and not just the guys, lol.

Or was trying to right himself a better choice? He seemed to have been mostly focused on the latter which as I understood is more difficult though quicker then getting out.

I am sort of a beginner with a dodgy back. Heres my WW story with a question at the end, I only paddle at the Lee Valley WWC in the UK, its a grade 3 run, I started with an introduction course there last September/October and then did the Developing WW course there last May and then passed the assessment thats needed to paddle on my own on the Legacy course. I did the Intro course in my Ethos 9 but i was to wobbly in it (prob wouldnt be now mind). I ended up buying a Burn 2 (£150) (not the B.2) and used that for a short while on flat water and a little at a standing wave. When I started the Dev' course in one of their Burn 3's, I wasn't keen on it cause my foot got stuck in there when i flipped it, so i finished the course using my Burn 2 and I have been using it nearly every weekend since at LV. Its an ok boat but it can catch me out due to the rails. So my question is, what boat (used) would be a good step up, someone keeps telling me to get a scorch but it is longer and a bit heavier then the Burn and i struggle as it is getting it up on my car roof. I really like the ReactR but its way out of my price range :( I have also been advised to get a Zet Raptor and i nearly did until someone said not to, so what boat is next and bare in mind that its unlikely that I would go to a WW river any time soon. thanks :)

I'm just over 6'2" and around 175-180 pounds. I just got the Alpha 75 and it's a great fit. The Alpha 75/90 have almost identical sizing/specs to the 9r2 medium/large. I know kayaks are all about personal preference but I don't think this is necessarily a "boat for girls and small paddlers". Hey Alex, thanks for the video, I had a few questions. I recently cracked my Antix 2.0 right under the seat (4" crack), and I have all winter to repair it so I want to make a project of it and do the most solid job. You have 2 different videos on kayak crack repair 3 years apart with some different ideas. So I'm wondering, what do you think would be the best possible method I could do for longevity with welding? weld both sides? add the roofing sealant on the inside on top of the weld? staples or no staples? also like the other person asked, any tips for re-attaching the seat rail after removing it? Thanks in advance, huge fan of your videos and tips!
@AlexBarhamАй бұрын
So a crack under the seat is very likely to return. I would throw the kitchen sink at it including a patch on the inside and expect it to fail eventually. Forget reattaching the track. Just put the seat where you like it and wedge the largest (matching) foam blocks you can on either side of the seat between the back of the hip pads and the side of the hull.
@caseydaniel219Ай бұрын
@@AlexBarham sounds good thanks, I'll do all the things then. What's the benefit of not reattaching the seat rail? Saving time on re-assambling? Or is it so itll be easy to re-patch it in the future?

I'm a smallll dude been paddling a regular session (c1) less rocker for sure then the plus but the boat is %100 always supposed to be squirting cartwheeling endering flipping something at all times you try and paddle it flat like other boats and it'll hand you a face full. so if you spin in wave just keep spinning, squirt out of the wave, that's why so many people love sessions (small and+) cause its high action easy.
@AlexBarhamАй бұрын
I think that is the difference between the Session and the Session Plus. The Plus is not as aggressive. Your higher center of gravity being a C1 would help with that.

Hi Alex! Really like your reviews, great job! I would have one question: Dagger Code vs Zet Cross? I see you have quite good impression about both, price tag seems to be quite close…as beginner/intermediate paddler I would like to learn and improve confidence, but comfort is also top prio on my list (so out fitting is also super important if I am sitting in for 5-6hours). I would not paddle big volume waters, just what we have in Europe in Alps and so. Thanks for recommendation! Cheers from Hungary! P.s. Demo them is kinda impossible here around.

ive always wondered why they dont make paddles that spring load flat at the ends so you can push a button when you want to upright and your paddle end is no longer sharp to cut water but actually several inches in width. This would make it so if you pushed down on your paddle it would actually have resistance and help you upright.

There are a lot of reasons. Mainly it would rust and fail, and realistically no one is going to pay for that feature.

@AlexBarham Have the ability to grab one of these (75gal) locally for right under $400 while I'm id say between begginer and intermediate level of skill I do prefer boats that give more primary stability and weight in the back of the hips, while expecting feedback, compared to I guess "more friendly" full displacement, i.e. hated the nomad I started in. I like boats that can handle rock features and surf well and help me progress as well which kind of canceled out very hard railed boats for me (the most aggressive id go is an antix for reference). For someone who doesn't mind a learning curve and is based in the Southeast is this something you'd recommend? Apologies for the mouthful...
