Tenchu Wii Game SHOULD Have Been Amazing... Tenchu Shadow Assassins Review

This Tenchu Wii game could have been something amazing but sadly removed many of the core features that tenchu fans love. Tenchu Shadow Assassins is a good stealth Game on it's own but fails as a New Tenchu Game.

A Good Stealth Game but not a great Tenchu Game. If they brought these new features AND KEPT the Hook shot and normal combat? Could have been something real special.

It's hard to imagine that kickboxing and ninjas no longer get good representation in video games... we should have had so much more by now

I'm a huge Tenchu fan! I remember buying this for the Wii I was very disappointed especially the ending!😮‍💨

I bought it Day 1!! I feel ur pain. I was so confused why core features were missing. All they had to do was bring the Tenchu we love, with better Graphics and Cool motion controls.... Such a shame because it still can be fun at times

If you liked the first Tenchu games created by Acquire and you wish to see what they did after then you might wanna try out Way of The Samurai 1 - 4 and Samurai Western.

I love when you tackle retro games, and I'm glad to see you going back to Tenchu, which is one of the series you always talked about even in the earlier days in this channel! Even though this is a different game from the rest, the PSP version was decent because at least it excluded all those awful motion controls...

Well, Tenchu: Shadow Assassins is actually called Tenchu 4 in Japan. Every other Tenchu game including Tenchu: Fatal Shadows, Tenchu: Time of the Assassins, Tenchu: Dark Secret, and Tenchu Z (called Tenchu Senran in Japan) are not mainline Tenchu entries.

I can now understand why they went this route, attempting something new, but it’s not really tenchu. It’s missing so many of the key gameplay mechanics that made the other games so fun. It’s still ok and at least it’s still tenchu but still sad it wasn’t a full tenchu experience

The changes were unnecessary sadly. I believe st the time and even to this day, Tenchu can be a successful series. Sticking to the formular but building on top of it 🙂

The storyline of the game was also really bad. It truly felt like every single character we know and love got flanderized with extremely poor writing. And it doesn't help the fact that it all ended on a dark cliffhanger with Kiku dying and Ayame being now posessed by Onikage. I can't believe they abandoned the franchise like this. This is why I said in my comment in the other video, that they should remake the three games and then make a true sequel that goes into a better direction and just pretend Shadow Assassins didn't exist.

I would love an official Tenchu 4 Game that ignores all the others after 3, lol. Although lots of fans recon there is certain awesome gameplay mechanics from Tenchu Z but that's the only Tenchu Game I have never played since it was a Xbox 360 exclusive. Story in T1, T2 & T3 were all pretty great in their own ways. 😁

There was a portable version on the PSP that used normal controls instead of Wiinis Motion, but it's still that no roof nonsense.

Such a darn shame this was. I mean add new features! Cook but don't also at the same time remove core fundamental aspects of the Game, lol. Felt more like a duj mini game than a Tenchu Game

I played this on PSP. I kinda liked it. But it got me confused. I played stage 1 more than 5x figuring things out. There's like 1 route of doing things only. Meh. The battle sequence just crushed my heart. I don't know where to place the story in the timeline but It's definitely after Wrath of Heaven. I don't know what happened to Izayoi. Or I don't remember anymore. Could this be a re-imagine? Feels like it.

Have you played the psp Tenchug ame? Time of the assassins. Not a fantastic name, but the game is alright. I LPed it a couple years ago as I haven't seen anyhone else do it. My only experience with this particular game is also the psp version which I tried out a bit, but need to get back to eventually. Though I'm feeling Stealth Assassins calling my name for a Tenchu fix so that'll probably be the next Tenchu I play. With this game I was put off by the tutorial voice over guy, took me out of the world. The things you said this did wrong are what worried me and what I experienced in briefly playing the psp version.

I have not tried any of the portable Tenchu Games but I think its cool they made it across to those Hand Helds 🙂 I'm very stubborn when it comes to change. I'm of the belief that not all change is good change, and so we need a reason for it. In my eyes, removing core mechanics that are vital to the Tenchu experience for a arguably lesser experience is iust bizzar. Also it's unfortunate, because the new features are actually very cool and if it was added on top of the existing frame work ~ this would have been viewed as one of the best Tenchu entries

@@GamingMyWholeLife I used an emulator, which I'll do if I do shadow assassins on psp. I did buy that one for the wii at one point but gave that console to a friend for his daughter. I'm with you on change. Could list several changes bands I likie made I didn't gel with. Oh and of course RE4 never worked for me dispite people syaing it's the best. They are wrong. yeah I don't get removing combat nor the grappling hook/player choice. Tenchu 1 was the first game I ever played that felt a bit open. I completely agree on the new features and I'm sure there could be ways of balancing them so you aren't op. Shame really and didn't this game end on a cliffhanger that was never resolved like syphon filter?

I love the franchise....i never owned a wii...and to be honest i thought a game like tenchu on wii would have been far to violent for Nintendo, considering your professionally killing people.

The Wii actually had some really violent games surprisingly. To this day, there was a Godfather Game on Wii that felt amazing to control but Violent as F! Using motion controls, you smashed heads on counter tops, threw people out of windows, punched, head butted, did the chocking motion to literally choke people and set them on fire. I'm sure I did a video on it aaages ago
