Same childhood. Til this day I still love the shinobi and many things "stealth" but Tenchu is my favorite. I later found Anthony Cummins channel where he seperates myth of ninja from reality. This only made me more obsessed in the shinobi.

It would be terrible. They would make it like assassin’s creed. But it would have micro transactions. I just want a pure upscaling if the old games. I would also accept 2 with the glitchy stealth kills fixed and adding back in a sound track as two had the best story other then WoH but removed the sound track to replace it with a loop of “nature sounds”

This is so in-depth for a game that's so niche and forgotten nowadays, it makes me really happy to see it get love still because then maybe one day the owners of the IP will figure out there's so much potential to tap into with a modern sequel/reimagining. Amazing work!

THANK YOU one of the greatest games of all, perhaps my favorite PS game, brilliantly documented. 1:33:02 the pretans are not breathing fire; they are trying to drink the lakewater along with the humans in middleground but they can't because the water is like fire to them. They are ignoring the god on the left holding his bowl, from whom pretans are getting sustenance. In the back we see gods watching on clouds, less dense than we and the pretans.

1:28:58 you prob didn't mention this for time, but in case you didn't know, In Shinobi Gaisen the decapitation is 'censored' due to CERO age ratings. So as Riki strikes, the camera cuts away to a wall and you see blood splash up it to cover the usual shot of Kataoka's head being removed =)

Don't know of any Tenchu fans have noticed, but in Tenchu: Fatal Shadows, the cave mission is a remake of the cave mission from Stealth Assassins, and mission 9 or 10 (can't remember exactly) is a remake of mission 4 from Stealth Assassins
@nechrol3 ай бұрын
I think they remade Cross the Checkpoint in Time of the Assassins too. Or maybe that was Fatal Shadows too.

One of the very rare instances back in those days when the western release was the definitive version/better version of a title. At least until the versions that expanded on that.

I had a similar 80s TMNT obsession. Still kinda love it for completely different reasons now. This was my first ever ps1 game and my all time favorite game. The soundtrack is amazing and the atmosphere works nicely.

The only true ninja game series I can think of.... Come on FromSoft, give us another god damn Tenchu already!!! (Aragami 2 is a decent replacement for now, plus it's 3 player co-op, but god dammit, yo......)

yes u are purely from the 90s, man i love how we all shared the same sensation. I saw it for 1st time at a friends house, i was the smallest one from the group and i was that annoying little kid of 7 years old who would play Mario and Aladdin with his snes. One day , my friends gathered together to play a game in Javier's house, when i asked "Can i join you guys?" all of them laughed and told me : "Sorry carlitos, this game isnt for you , its for adults " (they were like 10 years old) and i got so angry that Javier's mother invited me too. When i entered the room , all of the guys said, "Ok you can look , but you cant play , stay quiet and dont touch anything" So i took the honor code very seriously and stayed quiet while watching the big guys do their stuff. What i saw that afternoon , changed my mind for videogames for ever. Seeing heads rolling, executions, gore, arm obliterations... I was completely blown away . I insisted so much i couldnt stop speaking so they eventually let me play a little bit and guys that is the best gaming experience i ever had. I had so much fun in those moments, i remember them telling me how to perform different executions, how to use the graplin hook , not to kill innocents, etc... the real good times...

2:14 - you're missing out if you haven't played thief the dark project. get on it. tenchu 1 and 2 are great but they suffer from being beholden to crippled hardware, wrath of heaven less so. meanwhile thief is flourishing thanks to a modding scene and 25 years of custom maps. unparalled freedom of stealth in some masterpiece missions
