Wow, powerful, the segment with the photographer taking the image of the little boy actually brought tears to my eyes, just thinking that the child has probably never seen himself prior to that picture....amazing that there are still places in this world like that, there is still that innocence and wonder to be found and that something as simple as a picture can be that special...

Over the last few weeks this has pretty much become one of, if not my favorite KZbin channel. Loving the content; all of it. From the crazy adv rides like DRZ’s swimming up north, to Nick, to the fantastic and detailed Tenere 700 discussion. Just brilliant. Thanks Dave, Nick, Clubby, professor, danny Jackman, yager, and everyone else I haven’t named yet...!

Wondering how a video about a motorcycle can leave me so emotional. Must be the audio track. Great film that mirrors EXACTLY what has been in my mind ever since young me thought about adventure travel on a motorbike. Well, I tested this bike with my wife today and I must say I was very surprised how easy it was to drive two up, I went on uphills, stoped then start again and never felt the engine was suffering. It won’t be a missile in term of torque but it has plenty for everyday use. If I decide to buy it, I will change some things like putting tubeless rims and firmer springs. What is great as well is the minimum of electronics. Yamaha may has started a trend...

Really great video as always, but it is hard to start a new adventure with the Tenere 700 if you cant find em in a store in the USA East Coast. You talk to Canadiens and they have no problem getting a T7. In the US there is zero inventory between Philly, Baltimore, Washington DC, Richmond. Than you have a dealer in Tampa FL with 4 in the shop. What is the distribution deal with the USA? Is it tarifs or any other trade restrictions? Just being curious,

@@AGardenShed So true, and all this tech is just more layers for something to go wrong, while giving you 'benefits' of having less to do and think. I mean, my old KTM 640 Adventure would be simply enough, if I was first owner so that I could trust it fully. And it even has the kick starter working with flat battery in addition to the electric starter, and 28 l tank. Only BMW air hads and Tenere 600 1VJ did that trick too. I miss that concept, but T700 is the closest currently available, so be it. It is smallish tank, but there already solutions for that. Now if I only could make my choice about color ;-)

I think it would sell better if the price was more competitive. A fully kitted t7 here will cost pretty close to a KTM 890, and that bike has traction control and cruise control.

Nick, you are tonic and a top man. I have a Tenere Xt660z, love her to bits. My GSA1200 Adventure was pinched, got the ten same year (2010) ... I got over the shock and although my arse suffers more on 8-10 hour ride than the BMW, I look after her myself and understand the bike, no fancy stuff. Totally get it ... perfect for proper trips, not to the shops I mean! One question, I am tempted to but the 700, I'm 67 and have the dosh but I'm paranoid it will get nicked (East London) ... is it worth the worry? I am torn whether to keep the old girl or sell her for a young lass... what do you guys think? BTW not boasting but 11,000 mile trips many times 50 years without a break on many a motorcycle. You are the don, I know and so many other too but I want to give a better idea of who is typing this. Keep up the great work in explaining how wonderful this world really is and not about showing off. Love James!

Sir, hmm, well, why not? I'm not a salesman, but it's cheaper and better in the essential ways - robustness, simplicity, reliance on mechanicals rather than electrics than the others...so!!:) Let me know what you decide....Nick

Scudz, best setting...hmm, if I were you I'd check out another MAD TV film that deals with this in detail - they really are the experts, but the factory settings are not bad, depends on your weight and what you are carrying so hard to say, but good to hear from you:) Nick

Great Vid but no mention of the XT500 Yamaha .. ? The first winner of the Dakar in 1979 & and again in 1980 with the first four places .. from a video that talks about tradition & heritage, having no mention of it is either lazy or done on purpose because it wasn’t a a Tenere. But a Yamaha XT500 has won the Dakar twice, it’s quite a feat.
@nicksanders7110

My brief was not a history of the Dakar but the word 'Tenere' but mainly to ride the first Tenere 700 to Dakar and the XT500 wasn't a Tenere. So everything post 1983 was what I looked for. Nick

19:27 from there they went to Samara in occupied Western Sahara. Something that I felt the race never properly acknowledged. That is they needed Moroccan cooperation to race through Morocco's illegal occupation of its neighbour. Morality went out the window in order to secure access. 27:05 given Morocco and Mauritania don't have a common border that's clever. That is the border between *Western Sahara* and Mauritania. 32:53 Western Sahara doesn't get a mention.
