Can these bikes even be compared? Sure they can! I sold my BMW 1200 GSA and got the all new Tenere 700 from Yamaha, and this is how I experienced the transition.

Cant beat a down to earth review, ... Tenere "systems" = a throttle, a clutch, and two brakes ... so very true, a bike that is controlled by rider input again at last. Great comparison thanks.
@dexio854 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and you don't have Cruise Control on adventure bike :) Congrats. Honda AT did the same with the reboot and went RBW in the next update, guess why? People used to say all this before, you know? "no ABS = true rider skill", etc. Glad we are past that. At some point we will be past the "true input" thinking as well :) If you know anything about bikes, than you will know that even Tenere has a TPS, computer, injectors, so basically HALF of the Fuel/Air mixture is already controlled by electronics. The moment we stopped using carburetors there's no longer "true input" to anything. Think about it.

I get your point RexDexPL but I don't want all the electronics on my next bike because of reliability. I would love it for the safety side but don't want to be far from home and get a electronics failure. Also I keep my bikes for as long as they work and suit my riding. My current bike is a 15 year old carbed FZ1 which I've owned for 10 years. Its never let me down but won't enjoy going up that gravelly track in the Pyrenees.

@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
Thanks FtO! My Nomad buddy Stefan rides the 790R and I've been on it a few times. First I chose bike with my eyes only. I just fell in love with the T7 concept and had to get it. The 790 is ready to race... it's not a slogan. The feeling when riding is more compact and shorter front. If you can handle it to it's limit the 790 is for you. The T7 can roar but it does so politely. It's a gentleman :)

When I saw the heading of your video I couldn’t see the point, but after watching your review it made perfect sense, and I couldn’t stop watching, too entertaining. Great review and thanks for using English which most of us understand even though it’s not most of our first language. Where I’m from the big GS is still the daddy due to rain being an occasion to celebrate and comfort and safety being paramount, but a bike like the Tenere also makes a perfect second bike for all the good reasons you’ve mentioned. I’m actually looking at something even lighter but yet still able to cover reasonable distance and have the new 390 adventure down as a maybe. I switch bikes a little too often according to my wife, and I’m judgmental on every bike because I like to learn from my own mistakes and enjoy the process of making them, generally as far as bike ownership goes anyway, while not only finding my perfect bike combination but also what I actually like doing most with my bikes.

Thank you... (and for speaking English too). If we are fortunate enough to have a garage then there is often a case for having two m’bikes: one for longer faster roads taking a pillion and another for those little adventures and practical journeys. If you can only have one bike I think you are wise to have a mid range bike like the Tenere. Although if you are concerned about aesthetics then a smaller Bonneville might fit the bill. I know what you mean about luggage. It’s better to reduce what we carry and not have so much. If we want to go further we can always travel somewhere and hire a bike suitable for our travels. Maybe I’ll do that in Scandinavia someday...
