The hike is only allowed at the Weekend! so Jay Slater would have been totally alone going down that path, if he did go down it. It would not surprise me if he was made to walk down and then pushed to his death.

Those were the days. I love the prospect hike, but mandatory paying a guide for walking on an already impossible to loose marked path, that is not my cup of tea, and then with a hard hat and all things on top. Things are just getting ridiculous these days. Anyway, how can this be more dangerous than the many tourist hiked gorges in for instance Crete, of which some are even great a bit longer (Samaria Gorge is 16 km each way!)?

Do you have to hike with guide group?
@EvePlamenova Жыл бұрын
You don’t have to but it is very hard to get the free tickets as they go away very quickly. You can check on their Website, they release tickets usually on Thursday and Friday. Good luck 👍 For the hike itself I don’t think you need a guide but it depends on your age and it is good to have a guide to hear the stories and if something happens to have someone who will check up on you. I hope this helps 😊

Jay was supposedly in Juan Lopez Barranco, not this one. There is a video of experienced hikers slipping and sliding their way down, losing their way. No way was Jay there, would have fallen after five minutes.

They closed the trail for 3 years, because of accidents happening with inexperienced hikers overestimating themselves. During that time they tried to make the trail somewhat more safe. Now they are controlling the amount of people in the area. I still see people who shouldn't be on trails like this. We did the Chinyero trail last weekend and bumped into people on flipflops or in very bad shape. Lot's of trails on Tenerife are difficult and dangerous and should only be done by well prepared, experienced hikers.

They shouldn't. The rules are ridiculous, and I by the way do own fancy hiking boots, because I hike all the time. But, even I can not see, why you should not be able to hike in a pair of good trainers just as well.

Paying a guide for a hike on a fully marked path, even with good stairs in part, that is not my cup of tea at all. Wearing a hard hat in an gorge is simply silly: If anything hit you from above, it would do you absolutely no good anyway, but you may get a nicely cooked head in the heat in a bottom of a gorge wearing such a thing. I will pass and take my hiking somewhere else!
@autumn58522 ай бұрын
👍🏽 it’s definitely better for some people to remain cautious rather than take risks, we can’t all be the same and I’m sure you have fun in your own way even though you keep it safe.
