The best way to enjoy Nolan's movies is to not think about it too much, and just enjoy the ride. Whether you're talking about this movie, Inception, and even Batman, there are major plot holes and concepts that make absolutely no sense once you start to think about them. Fist movie of his which I think is bad. He should stop doing these fancy ‘concept’ movies and go back to normal stories where he’s at his best. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Tenet. The story is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of time travel physics most of the plot will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also The Protagonist's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation-his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these scenes, to realise that they're not just clever- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Tenet truly ARE idiots of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the complexities in Kat's existential catchphrase "INCLUDING MY SON," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Christopher Nolan's genius wit unfolds itself on their movie screens. What fools.. how I pity them.😂

You're right. I couldn't relate myself to the characters in this film, like the characters in other Nolan movies, you don't feel the pain or life threat of the character. @@playzone9342 I was just saying my opinion, I think that tenet is a very good movie but it was not able to shine because of the COVID situation. It would have been a huge hit if theatres were open. Also, Not every Nolan film would have emotions. There is no need to portray lots of emotions in this movie because it has the story that way. It is supposed to move like that. The protagonist does not have any weakness and Neil doesn’t too. So they haven’t lost anything which leads to emotion. Kat does need to portray emotions and does so because she has her weakness who is her son. She also gets abused by her husband which leads to her mental breakdown. Unlike Interstellar and Inception, this movie is supposed to be a war movie between two worlds, hence there is no place for emotion. The military is trained to move on without showing pain, hence the Protagonist and Neil doing so. A lot of hard work was done for this movie by the director. He introduced new editing methods and very high budget sets. So please appreciate the talent of Christopher Nolan who got the guts to make a bold move in the cinema industry.

Perhaps we should give Tenet some time and it will b considered a classic/milestone in future for spy movie genre (like the Fountain)....yes there was some lack of emotions storytelling/character's arcs but perhaps Nolan preferred that approach otherwise it would b too fuzzy to manage plot line simultaneously with character development .that would elongate overall screen time...from direction point of view , it was a visual spectacle but the story narrative lacks deeply rooted emotions...BTW to pull such a modern science fiction conceptual plot with such practical perfection is not everyone's cup of tea, he surely did his homework in this 1 also...perhaps Nolan should switch now to his old school direction/story telling/film making style like in Memento and The Prestige.

This movie is a time loop from end to start from the point of the Protagonist and we the audience and he himself know that much only what we get to see....... So in my opinion that makes this film emotionally cold which was yes neccesary according to the concept of the movie. Because in a time loop we neither know the start or end of it....... Who killed the grandfather if he's is killed and we are never born...... That's too brainy to handle and Sir Nolan did that exceptionally well........

Main avi ye movie dekh ke araha hu. Mujhe ye movie sachme achi lagi. Haa tumne sahi kaha ki main characters us level pe cunect nei kar pata lekin vai Christopher Nolan uska andaz hi hai alag. Uski movie ko jab tak aap 2-3 bar bohot gaur se nei dekho ge sachme muskil hota hai samjhna. Aur yehi baat usko alag banata hai aur special vi. Ye movie bohot hi complicated hai cinema me dekha hu to utna sachme samajhme nei aya aur upar mera gf ... jo vi ho lekin ye vi sach hai ki uska nam hi bohot hai ye samjh ne ke liye ki "ye banda dimag ka dahi karne wala hai" aur wo kar vi deta hai aur ha yehi uski khasiyaat hai...

It was same for Blade Runner 2049. Ratings went down for Tenet because they didn't understand the movie. I agree with lack of human emotion but I think most critics didn't understand it. Mostly the reviews I have read had said it and rated it negative because of it.

This movie is different. It should not be compared with any other movie. I mean, any movie shouldn't be compared with any other movie. Tenet is plot-driven. Not character-driven. The ideas involved in the movie would not have been expressed properly if there were unnecessary character sub-plots. Now don't get me wrong here. Character sub-plots are important for character development. But they are important only when needed. Tenet did not need that. It wanted to explore the idea of "Time Inversion", and succeeded in doing so in the best way possible. Many people(a heck lot of them) are complaining that the movie is confusing. USE YOUR BRAINS. I agree that it is difficult to understand it in the first watch, but I understood pretty much everything in my second run. We, as viewers, have to jog our minds. We have been watching movies that pretty much feed us the story. Tenet makes you work to understand the story. This movie is a masterpiece.
