Pen and Colin are actually the same type of people with almost the same kind of character…they both deal with heavy insecurities (though the reason for the insecurities differ but they are insecure all the same) They’re perfect together because he realised her being LW can be a thing of strength despite the flaws and drama that had happened They see each other the same way. Each one at first believing the other is too good for them until they eventually let go of all that insecurities and saw how mum they truly loved one another Colin accepting to love her in her truest form is also him magnifying his own strengths Because Colin is a lover boy and despite what society think, his sensitivities and warmth and emotions are the most beautiful aspect of him.. this was him being the best true version of himself while also loving his wife in her true best version of herself (especially when she had taken accountability for what she did wrong with the power of LW) Neither is out of the other’s league The whole point of their story is that they each bring down the other from the pedestal they’ve put the other on, then heal from their insecurities, become their true selves and love each other in the healthiest, most beautiful way! Perfect, methinks!🥰

@@lisagroves2742 It's true that Portia comes across as selfish and reputation-conscious, but beyond that, she's a mother who wants her family and daughters to be happy. She is demanding, because she wants the best for her three children. Let's not forget that for 3 seasons, she struggles in her own way to save the family from poverty and the destitution of the family title. She's a lonely, penniless woman who must survive for the sake of her children. She shows this from season 2 onwards when she talks to her cousin, describing her family as a “team” despite the difficulties they face with her daughters. Wrongly, Portia also tries to protect Penelope by hiding the family's worries from her, and avoiding eternal exposure to the seasons and balls where she would, in her opinion, never find love, because she was already an old maid. But the day Colin steps in and shows her all Penelope's qualities, Portia changes. At first out of interest, because the Bridgertons are going to give her back the fortune she no longer has, and gradually out of love and pride. She even accompanies Penelope in the final season's revelation, before defending her against her sisters. Portia is a good mother, only desperate because she has no way of fighting fair. When her fears are finally unfounded, she emerges as a loving mother to her family. That's why people love Portia. She's a strong-willed mother who's determined not to show any weakness until she protects her daughters.

It was so so beautiful… a lot of people said it made them cry! The fact that pen didn’t need to stiffle herself nor choose between her work and heart…. The fact that the man she’s loved for a long time finally realised his feelings for her and even loves her more in return… literally crazy about her The fact that he accepted her in all her vulnerability and authenticity. Hearing someone say their life purpose is to love you is probably the most beautiful thing ever especially for someone like pen who had been heavily abused emotionally by her mum and sisters all those while and being the laughing stock of the ton! My girl won hard! My boy also won because he finally found the love and emotional connection he had long desired and he found them in the same person who had been his most loyal and constant friend

Taken as just these scenes on their own, out of context, I really really like this. I think Colin's words are really lovely and it's a cute dance. HOWEVER, my main gripe is that I don't feel like this love confession as a satisfying pay-off in the full context of season 3. I think with better pacing, they could have made it work. It is a nice love confession as far a scene goes, but a bad one because the season's writing needed it to feel truly earned, and it didn't.
