even short rod with proper line can do that and more. tenkara is a japanese word for "i failed to learn fly fishing" :)

what are you gonna do with your beloved tenkara if fish is not feeding under your belly? may be it works for little streams but generally fly rod and line have huge advantage over tenkara. i mean fly fishers never even mention tenkara and rarely if ever compare them while tenkara fans are all over it.
