Tenkara Line Setup for the Complete Newbie (or anyone else for that matter)

In the spirit of vintage Volkswagens and keeping things simple, here is a video I made for the Complete Newbie (or anyone else for that matter) showing how to setup a Tenkara Line. One just needs to know how to tie 2 knots and they can setup their own tenkara line. Step by Step on how to tie your fly to the tippet, tippet to your main level line, and to then make a slip knot so you can connect this whole line to your tenkara rod. Knots are the slip knot and davy knot. Simple... Effective.... like a vintage VW.

Interesting slip knot. I usually use the Tenkara One Knot tippet to fly, but am gonna give your skip knot a try.

I think they are basically the same... both dual slipknots... at least that is the way I see it. I just tie mine the way I do as I can reach through the loops easier than wrapping the line around smaller loops. My hands have a harder time doing that so I created my method. ;-)

For davy knot on hooks, I have had some luck with doing a double or even triple twist (wrap) over on the fist step of that knot.. finish as usual.

Do you have a video or resource to how the slip knot connects to the lilian on the rod?

Your slip knot looks like what was traditionally called a Turle Knot here in the UK - was used since Adam was a boy for dry fly attachment mainly - as the fly can't "swivel" around like it tends to do with half-blood knots which I think in the US might be a "clincher" knot? However it is a less strong attachment in my opinion and more guilty of letting a trout swim off with a fly in its jaw. It can also cause fatigue in the nylon immediately by the knot as that's a hi-flex spot during traditional casting. Possibly less so in this application where casting appear so very different? I'm guessing that reel manufacturers are praying that this method doesn't take off? :)

I'm guessing the tippet is fluorocarbon or mono, however what is the level line made from please?

The Tenkara USA level lines are fluoro.
