The terrain was difficult; the wind was atrocious. You prevailed. The skills you revealed to a careful listener shows how far up the expert ladder you have moved in your craft since the beginning of 2019. Some of that knowledge surely comes from the sheer time you put in, but some people could fish for a couple of years and end up not far from where they began. You have acquired an expert level practice that makes watching this video a genuine pleasure.

That's really nice of you to say, Robert. I think my biggest strength is finding new streams and catching fish out of them, but I'm pretty average in most other aspects of tenkara. Whenever I fish with other people, they usually outfish me!
@russlehman20703 жыл бұрын
I would probably fish those big ponds with spinning gear using a casting bubble. I've always found it difficult to catch fish with a conventional fly rod, let alone tenkara gear, in still or flat water, so my hat's off to the channel owner. In still water, it's difficult to fly cast without spooking fish that are close enough to reach. I love fly gear for streams (I've never tried tenkara), but for lakes and ponds I prefer to fish flies with spinning gear, as it allows for much longer casts, that get you outside of the distance at which the fish can see you.

Pretty fish. Especially that bigger one! Thanks for also showing some of the slips, stumbles, and difficulties encountered as you fish these remote streams. It makes it more real for me, as I always seem to find hidden holes covered in long grass as I walk this type of area. Good video. Thank-you.

I like that kind of pre-storm/ on the fringe of a storm weather when I'm doing outdoor things, it really makes the landscape come to life. Beautiful species of trout, by the way.

Nice video. I've loved your videos for a while and I think I figured out why. The way you fish and the places you fish are just so different from anything I've ever done. Really like the variety for fishing styles out there and tenkara is a cool one.

That wind is pretty common in the afternoons here in CO. Especially in narrow canyons. One of the reasons I stick with a tapered, furled leader. I feel your pain in those beaver ponds. Falls are quite common and then you have to watch out for the "punji" stakes the beavers seem to leave for fishermen. Good video on the fishing. Keep up the great work.

Glad to see you got your Rios - another checklist. So far, Rio Grande cutts are the only cutthroat species I've caught in their native range; I thought I had caught some Greenbacks a number of years ago, but it turned out that none of them were "pure" Greenbacks. I've also caught finespotted cutts, but outside of their native range. That stream looked a lot like the one I fished back in July - tailor-made for Tenkara.

I have a true greenback video coming up, so stay tuned!

I grew up catching Cutts in CO. Sadly they are getting harder to find since the DOW screwed up and put rainbows in many cutthroat waters and they hybridize.

OK, gotta question … I’ve seen you fish different states, so I was wondering if you get just a day license or do you buy a season license in every state you fish? It gets expensive if you fish out of your home state! Non-Resident fees apply, right?

Hey I don't think those were pure rio grande cutts. They seemed a bit cuttbow like to me. The head waters of the Alamosa river and its higher tribs have the purest rio grande cutt genes I think.
@TenkaraAddict2 жыл бұрын
They are 100% pure. The creek was treated and then restored with pure cutthroat.
@Lars-snyder2 жыл бұрын
@@TenkaraAddict I see, well that warms my heart to know they treated it. Rio grande cutts have a hard life!
