Spent 3 months living in San Gerardo and fished the savegre in town a couple times. Pretty awesome I did it with a tankara also! Loved watching you guys highlight one of my favorite places on earth! Thanks for the video

That is a very special spot. We stayed at the Savegre Lodge in March and I caught some Tico trout on small rooster tails.

That's incredible! Yall could have told me that you were fishing some obscure headwater creek back here in Western NC, and I would have believed you. Everything from the gin clear water, the boulders and the surrounding forest looks nearly identical. Even the their trout look the same as the wild rainbows we have here! It's amazing that you can find habitat like that in the middle of the tropics!

Thats a good point! Have fished some of those small creeks in NC and they are unreal.

There’s water in rivers up in the mountains that’s so cold you feel like you’re in an ice bath. It also moves very fast so makes it even colder.

Crazy you would never think that the water gets that cold!

We thought he was going to break his leg and ruin his trip! Glad it wasn't serious but just goes to show you that fishing can be dangerous sometimes haha

@@tenkararodco oh yes it can be. Me and a buddy were fishing up on the St. Blank and we ran into a Doe. Long story short she chased us around trees trying to stomp our ass. We finally spooked her fawn and it went squealing off. Now mom's really pissed. I thought she was going to stomp the shit out of me. There was only a tree between us and she chased me in circle around the tree. Finally she took off after her baby. My Buddy thought his GoPro was on and it wasn't. It would have been classic to have watched that video. Stay safe my friends.

Beautiful place and fish. Teleportation needs to become a thing soon so I can spend some time there everyday. That Yari rod is on the top of my list, right under that is the magnetic line holder that looks like it holds flies too. Is that something you guys have in the works? I thought it was a cool to hear Drew’s thinking on fly selection too.
@tenkararodco3 жыл бұрын
100% agree with you on teleporting good call! The lineholder is actually from sapandbark.com. Really cool handmade product. We hope to feature more products from other Tenkara makers in the near future!

With the long growing season I don't understand Tico rainbows are so stunted, unless the larger ones are cropped off by the native Costa Rican. I know that in southern Appalachia trout streams brookies used to grow huge before modern developement took place (1920s), because of the longer growing season.
@tenkararodco3 жыл бұрын
From our understanding there are bigger ones in the 16-20 inch range but they are few and far between. But there were loads and loads of smaller ones. Definitely an interesting stream I wonder those same things!
