In the third episode, our train, 16327 Madurai Express, will cover the stretch from Thenmala to Punalur. Thenmala, densely covered by forests and nestled amidst the Western Ghats, means "Honey Hill" in Malayalam, renowned for its high-quality honey export. The next station from Thenmala is Ottakkal, around 6 km away. The stretch from Ottakkal to Edamann is incredibly beautiful, offering numerous scenic spots that can be captured from the moving train. The train navigates huge curves and eventually cruises down the Ghats. Between Ottakkal and Edamann, nature lovers are treated to stunning landscapes. This 9 km section is densely covered by greenery, with the Western Ghats providing a picturesque backdrop. Edamann is a charming railway station, surrounded by greenery and trees. The final stretch from Edamann to Punalur, about 8 km, passes through lush green fields. Just before entering Punalur Station, the train crosses the Kallada River, marking the end of this breathtaking 50 kms long Western Ghats section, also known as Sengottai gap, separating Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
