How did Mexico react to the Zimmermann Telegram? Barely. It's not like they could have done much.

"Fighting a war with US would be easy, winning it would be impossible", love this. It proves the generals were totally aware of their army's chances, and so were absolutely unwilling to try.

Well, as the Mexican I am, I can tell that was one of the scarce common sense decisions taken by the government in Mexican History.

Can you imagine being the employee in London who was just doing their typical telegram work and out of nowhere you see the country you’re at war with trying to send a message to Mexico

If Mexico ever fought another country with the same dedication that it does when it fights with itself, they would be a formidable opponent.

Because the Mexicans were smarter than the Ottomans; they declined to join a war that they could only lose.

Funny to think that German could sneak a message by Britain when the British having a monopoly on the telegraph line

One more thing that the video failed to address was that Mexico’s main arms and munitions provider was... the US. Mexico was not about to make a large arms purchase and make the US suspicious... Mexico could have also bought weapons from Argentina, but again such a large purchase that a war would require would immediately be known to the US and triggered a red alert.

I think this is one of the most ridiculous moments in history. Even I laugh (im mexican) because it was simply impossible to attack the US while in civil war (Mexico was divided into three groups by then, North, Central, and South with Villa, Carranza and Zapata as their leaders respectively)

Germany: Mexico, we know you are currently fighting a bloody civil war, the country is completely divided, and your army has their hands full, but could you please attack the U.S, we know you lost that last war, but second time is the charm, right? Pretty please?
