In 1992 a rebroadcast of SPIRITUALS IN CONCERT gave me a new lease in life. A duet of THERE IS A BALM IN GILEAD has heaven’s anointing. Food for the soul. WE WILL SURVIVE!

Pushed the button too late. This comment was for a Kathleen Battle and Jessica Norman duet. Sigh

I always enjoyed Ol Ern's TV show and especially the gospel numbers. Bill Walker was and is a great musician and arranger.

I love Tennessee Ernie Ford, I'm 67 and I've been listening to him since I was a little boy with my parents. The way he sings these hymns are the way there suppose to be sung, there so soothing and make you feel so good. I miss him so much, I've been searching all the old vinyl record stores for his albums and 45,'s as well as Cassettes (and there coming back too). Rest assured Ernie is in the front row of the Heavenly Choir. Rest in peace Ernie we miss you.

"We pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath hath made him to be sin for us , who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. -- 2nd Corinthians 5:20-21.

Is this the same Tennessee Earnie as cousin Earnie on I Love Lucy? I love that show! I had no idea that he was a gospel singer. Cool!! I don’t really know the songs he’s singing but I like them. I love learning the old time hymns. Like the new too but the old ones shouldn’t be forgotten either.❤️

Every singer has their range, we can go higher or lower & hit the note. But the quality is diminished

Stuart Hamblin wrote the song after he and friend John Wayne came up on a shack in the woods. When they rode up on their horses an old dog came out of the shack and just laid down on the porch. They went in the shack and found the body of an old man laying on the couch. Here's the whole story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Ole_House
