Thanks for your great shows Eric! Really enjoy. My “anything but expert” opinion is that since we didn’t see Nico at the end of Saturday’s game, we won’t see him the remainder of the season unless Vandy is an absolute blowout.

I don't care how much of a 5-star Nico is, you don't throw him in there against the back-to-back defending champs. Let Joe start. If he struggles, put in Gaston who has come college football experience. Then put in Nico. Nico can then play against Vanderbilt and the bowl game. Nico is the future. You don't write off your future just because you're presently bad (in the context of 2022).

Like Tyler Buchner at Bama--if Joe Milton was passed over many times after given the chance to prove himself then bringing him in hoping for a different outcome--rarely works. JT Daniels transferred from UGA and couldn't keep the starting job at West Virginia, then transferred to Rice and you tell me if he's still there or not. Dwan Mathis started the first half of the season opener vs Arkansas in 2021, transferred to Temple and he might as well be on the moon now. A QB whisperer Josh Huepel is not. That distinction belongs to Lincoln Riley. It's the only position you can trust the guy with. I'm wondering what Vol fans trust Josh with.

So let me get this straight, continuing to throw the ball and run up the score is fair play but icing the kicker is petty? Is icing the kicker not a typical strategy to get the kicker to miss? Is stoping the other team from scoring not the goal? At least be consistent

Don't start Nico against GA but do play him. It took Hendon some games to get everything down in the system. Would be nice if Nico had more reps to get ahead of the curve for next year so it won't take as long for him to hit the ground running. GBO !!!

The problem is you don’t put Nico in against elite talent that Georgia brings. I understand you guys wanna see him play. The coaching staff should’ve done had him ready. If he starts against Georgia it will kill him for the future. Kirby Smart will confuse him blitz him and it will kill the confidence of that kid. Georgia is not the team to experiment with. It is the classic Vol fan mentality. If it doesn't live up to the 25 year old mentality of the 90's teams it's not good enough. We need to chill and ride with Heupel for a while. Remember he's also growing as a coach as much as the players are. The program is trending up and that's all I can ask for. Every program has their day, Bama didn't touch a title for a decade or more before Saban got there. Georgia didn't sniff a title for 40 years before they won again. Not saying I want to wait 40 years, but if we just keep the program in constant limbo it's really hard to win anything of note. GBO

I don't understand fans making comments regarding the starting QB. I know it happens but none of us know enough to even discuss this issue. I am a big fan of Heupel, Joe, and Nico. it's hard to watch podcast after podcast with these heads drolling on about the issue.

I don't think Tennessee ever planned to redshirt him. He's already played in Virginia, UTSA, UConn by my count.

@@LockedOnVols That’s what i thought also… My understanding is… If they play in a 5th game they can Not Redshirt is how it works-No matter if it’s Only 1 play or 80 plays 🤔 I’d rather they base it off the number of plays (So they could get experience in multiple games) but I don’t see it happening 🤷‍♂️

I feel like when this team gets behind, a lot of them just play casually and kinda lay down because they know Joe can’t will them to a win offensively so why go bust their tail. Not saying that’s what happens, it just looks that way.

@@vols-deep I agree. I think he voiced his frustrations on the sideline too because we didn’t see him much after that. I think a lot of them have given up on Joe. I know I have. And it’s not me hating Joe or anything like that. He’s just not the high level qb that you need to run this offense at it’s highest level. He just isn’t. Idc what anybody says. Yes, he’s been playing a lot better since A&M, but we’re still limited in what we can do with him being the starter. People can bash me all they want but it’s clear. We thought the first few games were vanilla and things would open up when we hit SEC play. Well guess what? It’s still just as vanilla as it was game 1. Does the receiving corps play into that some? Yes. But Joe plays more of a role. He doesn’t see the whole field. He’s one read and throw, every pass play. I’ve seen multiple, multiple wide open receivers that he doesn’t see because he’s pre determining who he’s throwing to 8 out of 10 throws and the other 2 he’s one read and done. And quite frankly I’m sick of watching it. Joe is what he is and he’s never gonna be anything more. A physically gifted, athlete that can throw a football a mile but has zero accuracy, touch, or anything it takes to play the position at a high level. All that is my opinion of course , and it’s also what I see. I may be wrong and I’m sure somebody will have an opinion as to why I’m wrong, but I don’t care. Enough is enough. The people who say “Play calling is horrible!” definitely need to go back and re watch some games because there’s a glaring reason why. And I’m not really upset that we are where we are. Pre season I said with Joe at QB we would be a 7-5 or 8-4 team because of his inefficiencies. The Clemson performance didn’t cause me to think we’d go undefeated. I knew he wouldn’t be able to consistently play at a high level and I said I’d judge him a week at a time. He is too nonchalant to play the QB position among a host of other things. I’m tired of watching him throw a pick 6 and smile, then just motion for his guys to go to the sideline. You never see him get fired up and rally anybody. If he has done that I sure haven’t seen it. You have to have a certain mentality about you to play QB at a high level and he doesn’t have it. Hell he just figured out he could lower his shoulder and run people over in the A&M game. That alone should say something lol. But I digress. I could bitch for hours on this subject.

Season is effectively over. No new years 6 bowl no chance at the east... just start nico. We're going to lose either way but Nico needs sec experience for next year. Luckily basketball season is here.

Nico won't help at all! This season is over. Too many injuries and bad coaching staff. Cant wait to never see or hear of Joe Milton. Heupel isn't an SEC coach. 8 - 4 or 7 - 5 for the next few years, get ready.
