Remember before the season everybody in CFB was saying “Tennessee’s secondary is replacing 5 starters and they’re not good.” Now they are being forced to say “Tennessee’s secondary is untested” due to their high level of play. The schedule may be what it is, but anyone with eyes can see this secondary is playing different than a year ago. Jermod McCoy is playing tight inside coverage on slant routes. I don’t think I’ve seen hardly any missed tackles all season. Remember last season Tennessee still had a good defensive line, but that didn’t stop Austin Peay from nickel and diming them to death. No team has been able to do that this year because the secondary is that much better.

OU fan here. I am so hyped for this game. I love the fact that our first game in the SEC is against Josh Heupel and the Vols. I couldn’t have pictured a more perfect “welcoming” to the SEC. With that being said, while we Sooners are excited about the game, we dreading for what we believe is going to happen. OU has dog shit offensive line, a brand new QB, and a brand new OC. Have you seen how our line reacts to a pass rush? Awful. Absolutely dreadful. If we get the dub, it’ll shock everyone. I predict vols win 42 - 14. Good luck UT! Glad to see your program is taking off after such a long slump. Boomer sooner!

Agree on Dane Davis. He is arguably the second most valuable offensive lineman, next to our center> Mays. Dane can play any position on the offensive line . I think we will beat Oklahoma by at least two touchdowns....Maybe more. I don't agree with you on Coach Heupel's press conference. He may not give you the grist you need for your press mill. I get that. But I think he answers every question as honestly as he can WITHOUT giving the opposition anything. I like that. Maybe your problem is some of the stupid questions that are thrown at him. Some Dullard actually asked him "what the range of our field goal kicker." He didn't respond, and I don't blame him. Everything He says in a press conference is calculated for effect on somebody.

If you go position by position, TN is objectively better and deeper. Better O-line, quarterback, running backs, receivers, tight ends. On defense, we have a deeper and better D-line, probably tied at linebackers, and the secondary is unknown. Over the course of a 60 minute game these things will come out. TN was up 17-3 against NC state and buried them. OU was up 14-0 and 21-0 to Houston and Tulane in the second quarter of both games and struggled to score the rest of the game.

I love how you guys say Oklahoma doesn’t stand a chance! And then, turn right around and say, well ifTennessee wins this game they’ll jump from the second tier of the SEC right up into the first tier. If OU is so bad that they don’t stand a chance, then TN beating them should be just what happens, and shouldn’t have any influence on where TN stacks up against the first tier of teams!
