I also ordered an Early Virginia rifle in 58 cal. with a maple stock and some fancy carvings. Beautiful flintlock. Thanks again to the people at TVM. When I talk to the gals there, it's like talking to someone you've known all your life. First class.

I liked your rifle so much that I ordered one. Waited about 1.5 yrs. Just arrived today. Walnut stock, stained dark brown. Swamped barrel in .40 caliber. Like yours, the fit and finish is perfect. A big thank you to everyone at TVM. Can't wait to shoot it!

I built their Early VA rifle kit in .54 with a 36 inch barrel two years ago. It was a great experience and it's an awesome rifle. I liked it so much that I have a Natchez Poor Boy smoothbore in .62 on the way. They're fantastic people there at TVM.

That's a beaut right there....I'm from west Tn and same here in my region. We have a ton of walnut trees to choose from. Maples are around also but not as easily sourced from your backyard. I will say I did a .69 pirate musket pistol filntlock hardware kit. I bought a huge chunk of Curly Maple and the maple does have the advantage for looks. I do appreciate the walnut as the real mans option and would choose it for anything I was going to actually hunt with or shoot alot.

I should have mine in two months. I got the Southern style in 50 cal with bean style iron. I have built five Kentucky rifles at the age of fourteen and fifteen all were from kits. They turned out great. It just takes time and a lot of patience.

You are correct for choseing walnut for the stock of a Tennessee rifle.

Absolutely beautiful rifle and I love the walnut. I have the TVM Tennessee rifle in maple, but I think I like the walnut better. I'm thinking of saving for a fowler and perhaps I'll go with walnut like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Just paid off my Iron PA in .50 and ordered another just like it in .36. Hopefully they'll be done within a month or so of each other. Got my eye on the Fowler as well. Pretty much will round out the Flintlock collection. Yours is very nice. Can't wait to see mine. Hope you have had a lot of chances to shoot yours.

Beautiful. I've been looking to get into an affordable flintlock... I've had all my period experiences working at a Boy Scout camp so firearms are off the table there. I would like to do better than a traditions kit but I'm a college kid too... not a huge budget for a custom rifle at my age. Any suggestions?

Beautiful rifle! Respectful CRITICISMS. 1. Don't spend so much time unwrapping & TALKING about your gun! 2. SHOW many more "LUSTY CLOSEUPS" of your gun - "a PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS"!! 3. Always get into the "SPECIFICS" of your gun - caliber; lock & maker & finish (browned & fly in tumbler?); barrel maker & width across flats & finish & crowning (browning - smooth or satin); rifling twist (round ball?); 4. Stock wood & finish - plain or curly Maple; cheekpiece? Walnut? 5. Quality (or lack of!) overall of inletting; 5. Type of trigger - single or set (maker!). Of course, how well does it shoot - ease of loading & accuracy, if your review allows the time. I look forward to seeing you "make schmoke" & hearing your loadings. SORRY if I was too "critical"! You seem like a fine gentleman too! At 81(I'm Ron), you can call me "grandpa" or any other "words" you'd like to call me!!! But "be gentle please"! Gesundheit"!
