I had to pull in this same one last night, they pulled the guy 2 trucks ahead of me in for an inspection, and there was an empty one right next to it. They had me on the scale for 20 seconds while I balanced out and then they gave me the exit sign, I was literally shaking

I have been out of a road truck ten years and live in TN. When did they build that Chicken House On 65N coming into TN. There used to be only on on 65N leaving TN. into KY. Am so happy I don't have to drive in and out those damn things. They have very little to do with safety. Used to have to go through Brownsville scales alot but I knew most of the officers. I switch drove all over Brownsville in yard mule for MTD and there was only one restaurant in town and the DOT and full growns ate there so we knew each other. Got pulled in East bound once and before I got to the door the officer waved at me and told me to go on. They were good to local driver's and hell on Ohio and Illinois trucks. Pay back for the hell those States once caused Southern trucks and that God awful 55 mile a hour speed limit for trucks in those damn states but now I know they raised it because they were going to lose Federal money. And study after study split speed limits are very un safe.

+NARFALICIOUS my experience is that you generally get spit out. that is, you get on the scale then they give you the green light. in some states the inspector will give you The Look and motion you through (maybe because you are making them work).

Hey Narfalicous, DOT weigh stations are free, and it will weigh you if you ignore all signs telling you to go around, and drive on the scale anyways.

I got one to top that. All axles, less than 100 lbs ,each one, 79980 total. Beer load from anheiser/Busch---columbus, oh. That was on their scale, not dot's

Geez HyperActive7, 78770,I go back and get more. I get paid by the ton. I can scale 54,000 in the box full of fuel and ready to run. I often put 54,500 in knowing I can burn the extra weight off before I get to a scale.

The camera was playing tricks with the display board so it looked like everything was jumping around on the display......LOL

+Andrew Silva That is due to the interaction between the flicker (refresh) rate of the LEDs and the frame rate of the camera. You will also see this with LED tail lights. It's the same reason that old-style TV pictures often look unstable in film and videos.

I think truckers find out about weigh stations and take other roads to avoid them. They don't check if he's drunk or if his license is good or even check the safety points on the rig. All rigs should be inspected!

Miguel Robb What I'm saying is from the viewpoint of the safety, they should be checked because tires can be bad or drivers can be drunk or haven't slept for a long time. Your job is to drive but rigs wear out. I see vids. where car drivers harrass truckers.
