Thanks Tomaz, this is one of the essential foundations, sometimes overlooked. Djokovic is reported as saying he strives to keep his weight between his legs at all times, maintaining the posture you demonstrate so well.

Another great video. I suffer from the below weaknesses and did not even realize before seeing this. 1. Being lazy and trying to just reach the ball. 2. Trying to play too upright. 3. Loosing the athletic position while moving backward. Thanks Tomaz.

I think this video is my favorite of those you've published, I found several answer. Now I understand why my teacher wants me to get more core and legs strength, why he insists on mobility and wide legs when hitting... thinking of being well balanced before hitting, closes the loop of all the elements. I really appreciate your time creating these videos, cheers from Panama.

Thanks for video. Your exposition is always clear and precise. You are right, when I was a beginner, I struggled with footwork and balance but as my ground strokes, fitness and footwork improved, my balance improved. They all go hand in hand. There are no shortcuts to becoming an advanced player. Hard work is the only way.
@susanj.69764 жыл бұрын
great tip as to why people hit high balls into the net ... standing straight up rather than still loading the legs and bending the knees so that we don't go backwards... I had been wondering about this for a long time why on occasion I hit high balls into the net and feel myself going backwards. Great tips! Thank you : )

To play good tennis you must have balance, so you need anticipation, footwork, technique, and be fit. People think Federer runs less than Nadal, and that is not true. Great video Tomaz.
@ronniemcinerney32734 жыл бұрын
Miguel Barahona fed does run less then Rafa. He plays much more efficiently. Not saying Rafa doesn’t have good balance but fed uses less energy.

Tracking movement technology may reveal RF and Nadal move the same amount. However, but Fed typically appears to move less because the smoothness and effortlessness of his movement. It’s kind of an optical illusion. 🎾

Hello Tomaz! First, I really appreciate your great support. I absolutely agree with you it is the most important thing to do when everyone playing tennis. I currently doing some fitness such as circuit training, core practice and even pilates and take more time for those of things rather than rally in court. Because it takes me easy to control the ball based on our body balance.

This is so true. I've been playing for years and just realized that I jump/jerk too much when I hit the ball (too excited) in the match - self taken videos revealed it. When in practice, I am more calm and hit the ball way better. I'm much more consistent in the matches now by just telling myself to slow down/relax, stay on the ground and hit the ball clean with a full swing at the speed that I can control the ball. This does help bring my shots from my practice to the real matches.

I couldn't agree with this video more. If you are athletic enough or have good enough feel, you can get away with just "reaching for the ball" to get the ball in, but eventually, once you start to play against good players, they will punish you for that.

What if we're fatigued from a single (or multiple) full exercise sessions of any kind already (same day or previous day)? Your mobility is diminished even though the fully rested state is a very high level of fitness. I can't get around the court well or even get into an athletic stance to transfer my weight forward then. What should I do if I have to play a match in that physical shape? And skipping the sessions that fatigued you already is not an option.
@TyRaff4 жыл бұрын
Static stretching after those intense fitness sessions, as well as enough carbs post workout to replenish glycogen will help reduce next day fatigue.
@jlook60704 жыл бұрын
@@TyRaff I'll try to stretch more then. Does it have to be right after the session(s) or at any time between sessions? Nutrition is likely a factor, thank you I never thought about that possibility.
