Most of her time as #1 was during covid, when the positions were frozen, with that said, her number of weeks at #1 might be inflated. The best of luck, have a happy retirement.

@André Rodrigues What great players did she face in the final of the three Slams that she won?
@lachlangeraghty4342 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 luckily it's not all about slams. In 2021 she went 14-1 against top 20 players and 7-1 against top 10 players. She very comprehensively proved to be the best. If that stat doesn't prove her dominance then I think you might just have a personal bone to pick with her.
@jeffreykaufmann28672 жыл бұрын
@@lachlangeraghty434 It's harder to beat three top ten players in a slam because you have to play 7 matches so it's physically more tiring. She didn't face one top 20 player in A.O 2022. Faced 6 unseeded players at the F.O. I don't find her exciting to watch .just slicing the ball and waiting for the unforced error. Justine Henin Hardenne won the U.S Open beating Both Serena and Venus and they were in their Prime. Barty played in a Weak Era where at least half of the Top Ten were getting knocked out in the first week of a Slam. In Henin's Era you had to sometimes beat two top 5 players to win a Slam. in Henin's Era Barty wouldn't even be a Top Ten player.

@@lachlangeraghty434 When it comes to how Barty will be ranked among the greats it's all about Slams and the competition she faced. Navratilova vs Evert. Borg vs McEnroe. Graf vs Seles. Serena vs Venus etc. Barty vs Danielle Collins and Pliskova? LOL
@lachlangeraghty4342 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 we have differing opinions. I'm incredibly disappointed she is retiring but I have no concerns for her legacy. She has set herself apart from the field not only as a player but as a person. If you listen to tennis pundits, commentators and greats they all include her in the conversation of legends of the game. Being respected by your peers is far more gratifying than every day fans.

@cobber you are absolutely correct! This is a shocker! More to this than she’s letting on..I’ll take a wild guest and say mental health is a factor..I don’t think she’s done with Tennis. If it was Naomi Osaka retiring, it wouldn’t be a shocker, but Barty retiring…wow. Head scratcher!
@templedown2 жыл бұрын
wow. surprising indeed. at least take some more time off and play the Open in the United States and try to win the career slam. I think in the Open era, only 7 women have done it. maybe winning her home slam was enough to call it quits.

Just when a unique player comes along after Serena to light up the women's game, poof she is done. May this be an alert to the mismanagement of the press and the money grubbing sponsors. Ash, I wish you the very best. You know what is right for you.

Can they stop the BS? She’s 25!! WTF?? I guess she didn’t love the sport.
@janeallsopp37352 жыл бұрын
If you watch her press conference, she was tired, she wanted to be No.1, (3 years) she wanted to win Wimbledon (she did 2021) and she wanted to win Australian open 2022. Also, she retired last time and played cricket for the state of QLD. She is obsessed with sport but she is spent and sick of touring.
@scotth68142 жыл бұрын
Think about it. Every weekend getting on an airplane to go to the next tournament. Constant jetlag, never seeing home. Living in hotels. These players sacrifice a lot to play on the tour. Obviously they love the sport, but they get homesick too. She's been doing this for probably 10 years. I totally get her decision.
@jeffreykaufmann28672 жыл бұрын
@André Rodrigues It was a mistake for her Parents to let her to turn Pro at 14 Years Old. By 18 she was burnt out and tried Cricket for two Years. She returned to tennis after peaking in Cricket. I'm guessing she wants to try another Sport and see how good she can get in it. Once that curiosity is satisfied she'll try another Sport or return to Tennis.

@@rajsra3842 Like me, She lives in Australia, to travel it's hard, long distances, she wants to get married and have kids. She wanted to win Wimbledon - she did, she wanted to win Australian Open she did. She hates traveling, she said she didn't have it in her anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if she plays another sport after having kids. Barty is loved here by young and old so whatever she does, Aussies will love her. Ash Barty is homebody, she hates the slog.
