Many, many congratulations, Goran. I've rarely seen a player with such heart, spirit, and such a devastating serve...the best serve that I've ever seen, incidentally, in 50+ years as a tennis fan. It was wonderful to see you win Wimbledon all those years ago, and I was so happy for you that day, as you left nothing out on the court but blood, sweat and tears. We all saw what the victory meant to you, and rarely has anyone shown such character. Even now you're one of my eternal heroes (and my wife's) so we're sending you lots of love from England. What an inspiration you were, and what a true Champion you became. Just awesome, Goran...you're a legend.

I was watching that Wimbledon final against Rafter on TV and when Ivanisevic was serving it was either an ace or a double fault and not much else. Then the commentator said, "My apologies viewers, but what you're seeing is Goran VS Goran here."

I learned to serve by watching videos of Goran. He was still a Yugoslav then.
@shogunbj3 жыл бұрын
He was never Yugoslav, Yugoslavia was federation of 6 republics ( Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia, Montenegro ). He was always Croatian as Croatia was always Republic of Croatia. Yugoslavia was just a federation, not a nation itself.

@@shogunbj no you're an idiot. It was a state and a nationality. The internal identities were like states of any other country. They only became nationalities when they became "independent".

@@als5482 Im not calling you an idiot but ignorant. We were always independent ( SR Hrvatska or Social Republic of Croatia ) and had rights by Constitution to get out from federation. Which we did at he end of 1991. Everyone was identified as Croatian, Serb or whatever. Yugoslavs were artifical nation, never existed. Let's say like EU. As a member of EU is it nationality European or Italian, Croatian, Spanish etc.?

@@als5482 it was Josip Broz Tito dream to create a new South Slavic nation called Yugoslavs. Even though everyone was loyal to their own identity. Serbs were always Serbs with their culture and folkolore. Same was with the others, Croatians as well. When Tito died, Yugoslavia died. There was never Yugoslavs, failed communist project.

With all due respect to the hall of fame. They need to have a separate one for the Big 3. As they're so superior to any tennis players that have ever come before them. They should have their own hall of fame and museum after they retire.
@Turrican603 жыл бұрын
Continuing with this theme....as Novak will probably end his career as clearly superior to both Federer and Nadal in terms of Grand Slams, Masters 1000's and as the longest-ever reigning World No.1, then perhaps he, more than anybody, would deserve a Hall of Fame just to himself.
