@wedd448 ай бұрын
some high quality tennis, I always wonder how these players would match up against pros, like some top 100 player, if it would be close, just a little less consistency from the college players or something, but solid match anyways!
@connorpen8 ай бұрын
Yeah I think top pros are just a bit more consistent all around than D1 guys and it adds up over a full match. Arthur Fery vs Medvedev was R1 of Wimbledon last year and it went 7-5 6-4 6-3 for Medvedev ofc. Fery was Stanford's #1 singles player last year (and was briefly #1 ranked college player in the country) so he isn't your average D1 but still.
@rhoclouds8 ай бұрын
probably around 75% or more of d1 college players won't even make it to the top 200. the united states is just awful at putting out talent in international sports nowadays
@wedd448 ай бұрын
@@rhoclouds ya I think john Isner and Mackenzie Mcdonald went to college and did pretty well transferring to the pro circuit, now Ben Shelton who also went to college and is doing very well (top 15), nothing crazy, but not terrible either

@@wedd44 i mean fritz and shelton are doing fine, as is tommy paul. tiafoe, korda, and eubanks have had some moments where they've really shined. despite being hard workers, the likes of giron, mack, johnson, and nakashima haven't really done much yet. svajda, cressy, quinn, holt, and wolf haven't filled their hype yet internationally. but the issue remains that fritz aside, none of them have slams or even big titles despite living in one of the largest and wealthiest countries in the world where they have access to great resources. coming from a country of champions like agassi, sampras, johnny mac, and even chang or courier, it's certainly disappointing.
@asantesamuel138 ай бұрын
They don’t play a third set anymore?! This is getting out of hand. Super tiebreaks are way too depended on now. It is not a good way for high level tennis to be decided because it totally shortcuts and destroys any momentum either player had after the second set and ruins the flow of the match.
@sophs_corner8 ай бұрын
i agree! whatever happened to best of 3??
@cubicalgaming82638 ай бұрын
The match was already clinched by Harvard so they just play a superbreaker in the third. If the match wasn't already clinched, it would be a full third.
@bloxbuster21187 ай бұрын
@@cubicalgaming8263 they were tied, both yale and harvard both had won a set, what are you on.
@cubicalgaming82637 ай бұрын
No, that is not what I am referring to. The overall Yale vs Harvard dual match was already won by Harvard as they had already gotten to 4 and Yale can’t win. In that case, they play a super tiebreak in the third to quicken the match.
