I love Monica Seles,She had 8 GSs by the time she was 19,most players couldn't do that in their Whole tennis lifetime, that petty much sums up her Greatness. A true Legend.

She is great. She looks great and speaks great. I will always love this woman. What an inspiration with all that she's been through, and still so nice always with a smile and kind words. Was so lucky to get the opportunity to meet her. One of my biggest idols. And very possibly, she could've been the one Serena has been chasing all these years. Either way, a class act, phenomenal athlete, and such a generous spirit!

She looks underweight to me.You can tell by looking at her neck.when she was 19 she had more body fat compared to now.

Kudos to the interviewer. Very thoughtful, intelligent questions. 10 years on after her retirement...STILL love Monica!

Except the question about Steffi Graf dominance compared to Serena because it’s disrespect a little bit for Monica who was really the one who was dominant in the early 90s until the stabbing, not Graf. So without that incident Steffi Graf wouldn’t have been in the conversation of most dominant but Monica herself could have been instead. Monica handled the question well and just talked about Serena.

@@whfan007 I hear and agree with you in my heart but as Billie Jean King once pointed out...nobody gave Steffi those trophies. And even though I was routing against her in just about every GS final and kinda hated her for her opportunistic wins...she still had to earn those titles...against a field that was a level below her and Monica for sure but nonetheless her determination and consistency was unquestionable.

I truly believe that without the stabbing, Monica and Steffi would have had both +20 grand slams, and being #1 and #2 for 91-97 and names as martinez, Sánchez vicario and pierce would never win a slam during that period

Monica herself said in a 2009 interview: "The Ifs are there, but I am much happier now than I used to be." - She's in peace with her fate and she never would have been able to write the books she did and be such a kind and thoughtful person.

Amazing person! :) Graf would never had 22 if it wasn't for that scary stabbing!

We´ll never know. And besides, she undoubtedly could have won some more if she had not retired in 1999.
@fundhund628 жыл бұрын
Oo85 I meant Steffi Graf, who of course retired in 1999. And who could have won some more slams if she hadn´t, that´s what I was sayin` .. And I´m sure she doesn´t "thank" that guy for anything, and that she would have preferred that stabbing never to happen in the first place.

the stabbing argument to bring Graf down is sooo lame. What if Venus would not have gotten sick? What if Capriati would have been mentored better and not lose it? What if Serena would have had actual competition (because let's be honest...is there a real big player opposite to her?) these last years? You cannot blaim the tennis player that won those periods. NEVER. The winner should get credit for winning, not get bullied for winning. Besides this: we never know explicitly why top players stop winning. In the case of Seles we know in detail why she lost her position because of the stabbing. By the way: 1994 was a year that Seles was out and NOT Steffi's best year... so get a life, she didn't win everything when Seles was out. Btw: if i would not have been so lazy, i would have won all those grand slams that Sampras won and Federer. That gives me the right to shame there victories!!!

@markuse34726 жыл бұрын
Even so, Steffi has 22. I do agree that its likely Steffi would have a few less and Seles a few more, but history can't be changed. Steffi has 22. However, even when Seles "came back", she did win the Ausie Open in 1996 and made it to fins finals. That means she had what took but it also simply shows no matter what she would not have likely won more than she did. Her constant double handed volleys was a weakness of hers and it was obvious. It was her strength, too, but a weakness other good players took advantage of. That type of playing took a toll on her torso and shoulders, regardless what Seles says. That is why she grunted, because she was double handing everything and that caused stress on her body. The Williams sisters screaming and howling is another matter since it was their father who taught them to scream and howl while playing. Steffi would probably still have won what she did.

Henin is a coward who couldn;t even win Wimbledon lol then Serena beat her at the Aussie Open sending her to perpetual retirement ahaha!
@rizalizhary55478 жыл бұрын
henin come back from 1st retirement coz of money problem. she never won any slam after come back. her first victory at roland garros come after cheating (handball) vs serena at crucial point. henin is not a champion but a cheater. won 7 slam when serena faces family problems mixed series of injuries.

what has she done to her face? I hardly recognize her ...
@helen81528 жыл бұрын
She probably got a nose job and her face is thinner because she is thinner. She was kinda chubby most of the time when she was playing tennis and I don't mean that she was fat or anything. Her hair is also longer and straight. I have always liked Monica Seles because she seems like a very nice person.
