I don't think 1GA criticised French crowd - she politely explained her point of view and asked them to try to understand it and respect it as she respects them. Davenport wrote it was unnecessary but which player likes being distracted by the noisy crowd? Nobody, so Davenport as a former professional presents some nonsensical opinion - basically says to players - just shut up and let the crow do whatever... It is not constructive, it has no logic - it is Davenport's attention seeking. Players who can focus properly play better tennis than when distracted so the spectacle for the viewers is better this way. Therefore 1GA's comment was beneficiall for both sides - the players and the public.

Normally I never watch Iga's interviews any more until I saw the headline about what she said to the crowd. She doesn't mention anything about the really noisy players on court and you know who I'm talking about who make the game unbearable to watch as a fan. I didn't like the comment about the money but as long as the crowd aren't abusing players they should be allowed to cheer, remember the fans are the reason you get paid and get sponsorship.
