There will never be another like Rafa! His love and passion for the game, his humility and sincerity, and that amazing tennis IQ of knowing exactly what shot to make when and gauging the emotions of his opponents, are all the reasons he’s so beloved. For me, personally, he’s been an inspiration - someone whose work ethic, optimism, passion and perseverance has been a role model for all the success that I’ve achieved in my life. He will forever be my hero, on and off the court. I truly hope he keeps playing as long as he is able to and feels the hunger for the game. ❤️

I was so happy watching the match. A first round that went for 3 hrs is a great match. He had his chances and created them. It's the best match he's played this season. Unfortunately there can only be one winner.

It wasn’t only that he created chances, and broke Zverev’s serve a few times, but he couldn’t sustain that level because he had not gone deep into any tournaments to build his confidence. Against a lesser player, I think he would have won that match. Not against one of the best players in the world.

He says he played well. I think he played well too. Some unbelievable shots from both at times. Zverev was the better form player. But Nadal can build and hopefully get another title or olympic medal before retiring.

Sport in general will never be able to thank all those values that Rafa conveys, for example to young people, so important nowadays. He's one of the best athletes in history, not only for his sporting successes but also for how he has gotten them and his exemplary behavior inside and outside the court. Just look how from all over the world admire him. And me, as so many people, who have been watching for more than 20 years almost all his matches, I join the gratitude. I will continue there until he wants. All my respects, good luck 👏👏

We LOVE you Rafa!! You were so incredibly gracious in this interview, as you always are! You gave so much insight about the level you're playing at, what your thoughts/ plans are for the future, WHY you push yourself to the extreme, what you are willing to do to overcome, and just loved that you describe yourself as a simple guy! 😊 You played extremely well today, and the best part is that you were happy and satisfied with your level even though it didn't give you the win You knew the mountain you were facing with Zverev at the very top of his game! So much gratitude for all the wonderful years you've given us, and you're not quite done yet! You are an absolute inspiration! Blessings to you & your beautiful family!! ❤

@@antoinev9733Lol, all the Big 3 are GOATs. Just a few slams more Djokovic has because his rivals went down earlier and he's younger. Nothing more really. They used to consistently beat each other in their primes. One can even argue if Federer was Djokovic's age he would completely dominate their rivalry but it's what it is. Novak is grateful for that too and the fans too should give them respect because they have played at the same level.

The best medicine for the last challenge in 2025! Frankly speaking, he was not ready for this year's event, but such an unusually special tournament that he couldn't skip. That may leave him a margin of rethinking on the final challenge, to enter it fit! Not a question of conquering it or not, but of losing convincingly. That should be his way to put a period.

Nadal's truth is objective truth. He played a very good match, but Zverev played on amazing level. I am sure with this level he would crush many top players, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Rublev, Ruud, probably even Alcaraz and Sinner. Zverev was unbeatable today simply. Nadal should be proud of himself and he definitely should try to continue. Bravo, Champ! Respect from Djokovic fan.

It's not that he is not good enough to win few rounds in ATP 250 or ATP 500 if he was injury free, but masters 1000 or GS no chance at all plus very soon his protective ranking he is using to get into main draws will be gone. Once his protective ranking is gone then his current ranking will get him in the main draws of futures and challenger tournaments.

Rafa, a withdrawal in time is a great victory. This is something that Toni Kroos has been able to see very well, who perhaps could have played for a while longer at a good level, but has preferred to leave it now, not to blot out his career and say goodbye with a good taste in his mouth. It's not worth going to the Olympic Games to go through this again. It is not good for you nor is it good for your audience, who first get excited and then when they see you play like that they are disappointed and feel sorry for you. You are the best clay tennis player in history and no one can take that away from you. You are one of the three best on all courts, although it is already obvious that Djokovic has distanced himself and the throne is going to be his. Now Carlitos is the present and the future of Spanish tennis and the player with whom we want to identify and feel proud. Don't ruin all this with a woeful performance at the Games or you will always regret it. Retire, relax and live life. There is life beyond the tennis courts.

Lol, Djokovic is only the GOAT for now. He will be dethroned in a couple of decades too. All it takes is a weak era or another legend. Bet that Sampras could have won more than 20 slams if he wanted to. Both Big 3 are the GOATs. And who the hell are you to say anything about Rafa lol. He said he only became able to move more fully this past week, he’s had hardly any match to play to build confidence and it’s been years since he played a top 5 player like Zverev. Zverev is playing so well that he’s a favorite for the event. Given all of this, he’s nowhere near his apex. It seems his point is that if he stays healthy and allowed to practice and train as he wishes to, then he will reassess. It seems logical. A fit And healthy Rafa usually wins big events. If he’s not fit and healthy, then why play.

Don't be a Roger and hang around for too long. You could push for a quarter, but it's the right time now to say goodbye. I'd like to hear that I'm done; otherwise, it becomes painstaking for fans and yourself alone.

He should only come back to RG if he truly believes he has a chance to win the tournament not just a few rounds. If he wins a gold at the Olympics for sure he will be back next year and is more important for him than Wimbledon

He said “only a week ago he started moving freely”…what 🐴💩excuse… too proud and full of himself…He’s a legend and doesn’t need those lame excuses. Just accept the fact that at 37 years old he’s never gonna play like he did before even if healthy… No player at that age ever will play at a level that they played before…Time to move on….

This might be his last game of tennis. I think he will play the Olympics 100 percent, but after he finishes the Olympics, Nadal will probably be done with tennis. But he can join the pickleball league.

The amount of arrogance and disrespect to Nadal 😂 Nadal was always meant to be one of the goats of the era, even if he played football, he was just that talented, so respect him and get on with your life.

@@Blue-ik8ij I respect everyone. This might be his last year of his career of tennis. But he can pick up pickleball like other tennis players are doing now.

@Blue-ik8ij To me, Nadal is a true legend just like Roger and many more tennis players. So I respect the goat of tennis. I thought Nadal was going to win his 15 grand slam tournament. But maybe next time.

This is becoming so melodramatic ... everyone is milking this retirement thing now ... no one wants to get old, retire, die ... everyone cries ... everyone hugs each other... but they all want to win ... we understand ... it's OK. let it go and move on with your lives ... tennis will be here with or without you ... it's only a sport ...

@@Blue-ik8ij hahaha yes, everyone else has been praying that him and Nole would have retired a long time ago! They all want to have a bigger slice of the cake not just breadcrumbs ... just look at Gasquet ... been playing as long as Nadal and didn't win a major ... yet he still keeps his head down and plays , day in day out... to me this is worth the same as 14 or 22 or 100 GS... 99% of the guys have never won anything major, some of them not even a tournament in their career ... does anyone ask them how they feel about it? does anyone write a soap opera ? no, of course not...as far as the mainstream media they do not exist... we , as tennis fans, we do not see them unless they create a random upset during a tournament... that's why this thing starts to get a bit on my nerves with all the "emotions" running high across the world of tennis and celebrities alike ...
