good job. i personally like to pause the mains while i run in the first three crosses...eliminating any blocked holes at the head. i also prefer to use an offset tool inside the starting clamp on that first cross.

I use one single string for both main and cross when I string my rackets using a drop weight system stringer. Is there a disadvantage for using a single string? It helps me save string and I can get an extra set from my reel.
@Tennisrally_
@Tennisrally_ 2 жыл бұрын
There are no disadvantages at all :) Using one string or two knots as the correct term is can actually be better in some cases. The overall tension loss will be less with two knots and the time stringing may also be shorter. Otherwise it’s just up to preference, some player want two knots and some want four as the way I do it. In rare cases the racquet may have to be strung with two knots in order to get it done.

Just make sure you are weaving crosses top to bottom. In order to do that on rackets were the mains end at the throat you will need to use an Around the World (ATW) pattern.

What difference does the starting clamp make or what does it do specifically?
@Tennisrally_
@Tennisrally_ 3 жыл бұрын
When starting the mains it secures that there won’t be any slippage from the base clamp. When starting the crosses it makes so you can tie it off correctly and add knot tension

@@Tennisrally_ Would that clamp be too much pressure on say poly strings? What if we just use a second fixed clamp instead?
@Tennisrally_
@Tennisrally_ 3 жыл бұрын
We use the starting clamp since it ensures no slippage, another fixed clamp won’t help if it still slips. It won’t be too much pressure just clamp it lightly in the tip so the pressure stay light

I usually use 20% knot tension. Do you think it's okay or should I reduce it to 10%?
@Tennisrally_
@Tennisrally_ 9 ай бұрын
I don’t know the exact numbers and what is the perfect percentage and so on. I use the button in my machine which adds knot tension and I’m not sure if it adds 10 or 15%. But I do think 20% sounds like a lot

I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. But, you really left out a lot of important steps and tips. For example why you started at the head and not the throat for the mains. You are using fixed clamps, this technique will vary when using floating clamps. Lots more you could have added to this video.

From one professional stringer to another, I don't see much of what you could improve on. I wish Richard Parnell expanded on his comment on your video. The only thing I can see is that you don't pull the knot towards the frame of the racquet, so the resulting knot does not sit flush against the frame. You are a great stringer, and I wouldn't take any points off for that. The string job is ATP-worthy still. Let me know if you find out areas of improvement Mr. Parnell was talking about in his previous comment. It will serve valuable to me as well!

how long is main and how long is cross?
@Tennisrally_
@Tennisrally_ 2 жыл бұрын
A set of strings required for a racquet is usually around 12.2 meters, the mains require a little more then the crosses. Measure the string along the racquet with as many mains or crosses the racquet has plus a little extra to reach the machine and it will be perfect measured
