Could be seen as common knowledge for those professionally involved in tennis but for me, as an amateur, those are great ideas for warming up. Also serves as a reminder to do it. Nikola, I admire what you do, man. You do make a big impact on tennis. Kids around the world learning their first strokes, adult amateurs (some eventually will parent a junior player). Cheers from Brazil.

Haha inclusion of Carla's bloopers is gold. You have science on your side with the stretching: don't as a warm-up but do as a cool-down. Also, I can see your starting speed on the sprint is resembling mine, .. From a fellow 197x-er

We also warm up properly in my bjj academy. Before we start teaching technicues or sparring with each others. Also at least till sweat comes to forehead (around 15 minutes). I have trained diffrent martial arts now over 15 years and continue training. Tennis is also fun and I play it usually once a week with my friends. Thanks for video and good tips! 🙂

I think thats not good when you like to play tennis for a long time in your live. Thsnks for your "tips" and inspirations. Have a good time👍

In my experience, the warmup is the most neglected part of the game at the recreational level. I need to add some elements from this video to my warmup routine. I think the video is missing ankle and knee rotations which I find important to get my joints ready.

Great content, Nick. But I am probably too tired to play tennis after this set of warm up. Ha Ha~
@knotwilg35963 жыл бұрын
That's a misconception. Most recreational sports players think that way - I used to too. But you do find your "second breath" and it's a rather mesmerizing experience.

Why do you think stretching is not a good warm-up? I'm a recreational player competing in team league tournaments in Austria (~4.0 ITN, which according to tennisPAL is between a 4.5 & 5.0 NTRP, or 6.0 & 8.5 UTR level). I warm up with stretches for every practice and match, for which I earn skeptical if not confused looks almost every time because most other players don't warm up at all. If I did any of your suggested exercises (except maybe the ones with the stretch-band), people would laugh at how serious I take myself.
