I think Krejcikova was right tho tbh. How are you supposed to challenge a ball that you already started to prepare for and therefor has to play because if Krejcikova was wrong it would’ve been point to Osta/Kichenok. She had to hit the ball and immediately challenged right after and she physically couldn’t have been any faster
@einarsd4 Жыл бұрын
@@alecplummer6539 That's not how that rule works. You can only challenge a point ending shot or any shot after which you stop the play. According to official tennis rules in this instance Krejcikova challenged bit too late. First you challenge the point and then you stop, but that must happen immediately after the line call. You can't make another shot. In this case Krejcikova's challenge was a hindrance.

@@einarsd4 how is it a hinderance when Krejcikova hit the ball out. It’s hard to stop the point when your three or 4 ft behind the baseline hitting a topspin backhand lob. Also in Guadalajara they have electronic line calling so Krejcikova had to wait a little bit to challenge

@@alecplummer6539 You must immediately stop the play to challenge the call. You can't wait and then challenge. In regard to the Ostapenko/Krejcikova doubles match, I think even if you commit to your shot and wait for it to go out etc, who cares, if the prior ball was out, it should be your point. You have three challenges, you should be able to use them whenever you see fit. Hell, I'd be cool with players challenging a ball 10 shots prior cos if the opponents ball was out, then it should be their point. They shouldn't be required to keep a rally going if the opponent isn't using the space inside the court
@jennym2276 Жыл бұрын
But she wasn't sure and called the challenge only when she saw her shot was going out. I'm undecided on this one. I think it's a bit too late. However the ball was out, it should have been called by the linesperson. They had no business winning the point.
