Seems to me that umpires have been submissive to players for so long (with their tantrums and bad behaviour) that they are trying to regain authority by being super pedantic with rules and also not listening when a player makes a genuine protests to a decision, as in we are right, do not question us type mentality. @fedeecoria this was mainly because the crowd causes an "hindrance to the match" and therefore needs to be contained before it gets out of their hands, and usually is not controlled by the players themselves. That's a clear red flag for the umpire to act (Reference to that Wimbledon match that you sourced form). However, in this situation, the ball "boy" you're referring to (he's actually an adult well past your age, Federico), was not actually harmed that much by the flown racquet (in Djocovid's case, obviously it was a clear attack on the line umpire), but in this other situation, unless the ball person had actually been hit by the racquet itself, you would have made a fair point in defaulting Brooksby. BUT... it didn't, so in this case, it's the chair's decision to call it in to the court supervisor, and if he chose not to call the supervisor, it's up to him ultimately. Also, you don't need to worry for the well being of the ballpeople, as that's the job for the health professionals and safety officials on the court, tho good effort on the sportsmanship (meanwhile, you yourself have fallen to quite some..... throwing antiqs) @fedeecoria

Totally disagree with Coria. He is just upset because he didn’t get a free pass to the next round. In slow motion the racket barely touched the ball boy, after it hit the wall. Brooksby apologized. Ump is totally right

Kyrgios likes it when the crowd is with him, hates it when they boo him and goes mad and virago-ish. All is fair in love and in war.

tennis is an idividual sport. lots of emotions, you are alone on the court. you are allowed to be angry, frustrated, and be mad. who ever dont understand that is stupid. on the court there are no friends, just enemies. jordan and kobe(r.i.p.)explained it all

Completely agree with Evans that 7 minutes for a change of clothes and bathroom break is ridiculous, but hey those are the rules and the players know it.

It can be abused. If that's all it takes to psych you out though that's kinda on you. Embarrassing watching a player bitch about the same thing between every rally for the next 20 minutes because they're stuck in their feelings.

If you break your racquet on purpose, you should be forced to continue playing with it

What brooksby did was wrong but it’s clearly not nice of coria to ask why he didn’t get a bigger penalty after throwing the racquet. He should worry about himself

Rinderknech clearly left the ball, the call was after. Don't know how you can argue with that really

Coria was in the right but pulling the race card at the end was cringe

What do you call them when they're grown ups, though? Ball retrievers? Sounds like a dog. 😅

If Djokovic did what like that guy in 1st video did, he would be suspended for 2 years....shame on US open

Does rinderknech really not know the rule? If you don't return the ball, your opponent will get the point no matter what...it's time violation. The only exceptions to the rule is if you stop play bc you know the ball is out.
