Great video Jeff. This is exactly what I am working on now as far as trying to compact my swing. I find that with older traditional methods I can be late to hit the ball which leads to arm and elbow issues for me.

Very well explained Jeff, I endorse this technique since I've adopted in April. I find it more stable and efficient... easy to time the shot with higher racquet head speed!!!

Forehand is definitely not my problem but was curious about what Jeff had to say. I never really thought about my backswing until he mentioned efficiency and he’s so on the mark! As for me, I think baseball helped because I was so intent on creating bat speed which is generated from having a strong core. Excellent advice!

Great video. Here are a few topics that would be great for you to cover (and if you have videos on them, I found them hard to find). First, I would love to see a video for serving out wide (ad court for righties, deuce court for lefties) without a kick serve. A kick serve is not realistic for most people 50 and over and those 4.0 or lower. But some tips on where to stand and where to aim to pull an opponent off the court would be great. Second, a video on flexibility, particularly the trunk and chest for maximizing serve prowess (I think your ability to curve your mid spine is a key to your strong kick serve, for example). Just a few thoughts.

Thankg you! Rally balls are easy but when it comes to match play or shorter ball with less pace, it's hard to do the same as rally/practice ball
@TennisEvolution3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! Glad to help. Great point. That's why I suggest to start off with hand feeding and practice your way up to rally. Aside from the technique aspect, the footwork plays a critical role.

Very good tips Jeff !! You may consider to make a video about the serape effect too, because is very important when we think on explosive mouvement of the torso.Thank you very much !!

I've been doing this for years and had very few wrist problems. In fact, having a very loose arm is key to hitting with power. I think if you want to use a big backswing, you will need to play further back behind baseline to give you time to wind up. Thanks Jeff.

Great video. Thanks for your thoughtful analysis. I am trying to help my competitive 11-year- old decide how to adopt this type of forehand. All the next-gen dudes are using it. One question: What does the non-dominant arm do? Same as before? Thanks

On the "set" even though you bring up elements that consider style I'm still glad to hear your opinion on my channel people keep telling me to prepare my FH right earlier. I'm not sure why they are so obsessed with it, maybe they heard it from their tennis teacher.

Fix my forehand, coach Jeff! No one else has been able too. I have a decent one handed topspin backhand, but im late on almost every forehand. In actual matches i hit almost all my forehands late and then do a buggy-whip running forehand Gasquet style.

I prefer the Rublev's forehand , no pet the dog and also natural. Plus we all know what his forehand does...splitting mountains in halves!
@alekseyplotnikov83943 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. People too obsessed about pet the dog concept i think.
@kalpetkov3 жыл бұрын
I'd argue that Rublev is doing exactly what Jeff is saying in this video. The only reason you don't see the "pet the dog" portion of his forehands is because his strings are slightly open at the "pet the dog" phase of his stroke. Here's a link to a slow mo video of Rublev's forehand kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGfXimSCe8t-q7c
@sebastiansantos55612 жыл бұрын
Im agree¡! the Rublev's forehand is more natural and will cause less injuries in the future. Now the pet the dog I find a way that can cause less injuries is not making a big inverted loop like Nole just making it almost a strait back swing. Tell me something about it
@sebastiansantos55612 жыл бұрын
@@kalpetkov Im not agree Rublev's does like Del Potro and that is not the pet the dog
@sebastiansantos55612 жыл бұрын
What I want to mean is that both forehands the face goes to the back with open strings and in the pet the dog the raquet fall next to the player and with the raquet face close; like Diego Schwartzman either. If not watch the tennis videos and you will see

I think all these are valid points however one main thing with all technique on all strokes is to have swing continuous with no Stoppage . As soon as we stoppage in technique it disrupts the kinetic chain and smoothness of stroke

It depends on the player style Mike. We also need to consider the speed at which the women play in the WTA.
