I feel like my motion getting into the trophy position is so wasteful. I'm going to try the half-serve right away. Thanks for your great work, Jeff!

@@TennisEvolution It went great! Never have my first serves gone in so consistently, and I'm picking my spots to keep the opponent off-guard.

I really appreciate how consistent your coaching is across different lessons. I didn’t hear you say elbow the enemy or pivot, but (I think) it looks like I would improve those aspects too using these drills. #fanboy

This video really helped me with my serve speed, and toss. Thanks Jeff! Any chance we could see a live between you and Gill Gross before the Australian Open is over?

Thank you Jeff. I keep coming back to your fundamental lesson here. I’m 50 now, picked up racquet at 45 after 25 years away from the game and I’ve been working on my serve. I try so many things and it’s getting real solid yet I feel like I keep going back & forth but this one drill declutters so much and brings you back to the best most simple setup. The second part of this for me is to really be disciplined on working up up up into the sky for the serve. Never think about down into the court..always up. Thanks Jeff!! 🙏

Thats a great explanation. My serve is fine but i get asked for help and this is good to help them get it. Buy of course, most rec players are stubborn, even for mules.

Love your videos - very helpful. I am struggling with waiters tray. Do you recommend half or three quarters serve? (To use in competition)

hello Jeff, thank-you so much for all your expertise re. the serve. I'm watching Madison Keys in the quarterfinals. Would you consider doing a video analyzing her service motion? I think it's the best in the WTA: one of the few women who uses platform stance and she really gets into the elbow the enemy position. A nice high ball toss that allows her enough time to achieve a good trophy position, etc. Thanks for considering doing a video re. her serve.

Once the student is at trophy with racquet roughly vertical, with wrist in ulnar deviation, as described in 07:12, he is then ready to drop the racquet. The racquet drop should synchronize with knee extension. But when does wrist radial deviation occur? Or does the student remain in wrist ulnar deviation throughout the drop?

Jeff casually dropping $1000 worth of coaching in a KZbin video for free. Jeff is also starting to talk more about motor patterns and motor pattern limitations. Did a live student finally break you and had to make a video about this very discreet but important area of the serve and it is supposed to be practised Jeff? Anyway, from my experience the only problem I see with this drill is at the trophy pose when you place the student into ulnar deviation, getting a student to maintain a lose grip is challenging. What are your suggestions on solving that problem Jeff?

Why do you think Sampras and Federer do not do a down together up together style service motion? If that's not what you call what they do, then what is it called?

so I am trying to figure out your landing leg. As a lefty, I see you landing on your right leg. I (lefty also) land on my left leg. I feel that is a big factor of me going in for arthroscopic surgery in 3 days. I have felt it building over the past 2 years. I also only play doubles, serve and volley 90% of the time. As a lefty, do you always land on your right leg or is this part of the drill?

My habit is my front foot ends up turning and points forward. I don’t know how to stop this unintentional foot fault 😞

Do the half serve *correctly* first. Then, if you wish, do the full motion. If you cannot do the half serve correctly you will never be able to do the full motion. Why overcomplicate with a full motion if you cannot even perform a half motion? It makes no sense. Keep it simple at first. That way, you are isolating the problem. There is plenty of power to be had with half serve. It is true. Jay Berger was top ten in the world with essentially a half serve.
