I think I may have figured it out in a sense. It's not so much his fluidity or his unique motion in the forehand or backhand, it comes down to his impeccable footwork and timing. Playing against the greatness of Roger's perfection in all areas from serve to forehand, backhand, his variation, volleys - in my opinion - helped craft Nadal and Djokovic into the unstoppable talents they are. If you "grew up" having to win / lose grand slams going through Federer there will be very few people who will be able to test you more than he will - and did. Nadal would have been happy being the greatest clay court player of all time if there wasn't another guy out there being the greatest player of all time. He changed and improved his game to win on grass and hard courts which makes him the amazing player he is. Djokovic was always good on all surfaces but he brought a new level of strength and flexibility that was NECESSARY for him to ever begin winning grand slams requiring him to beat both Nadal and Fed. They are the triffecta of tennis greatest.

Federer's gift is to make the artistic effective (or the effective artistic, depending on your point of view). There are only a handful of athletes in all of sport who can resolve both of these equations. For most they are mutually exclusive, at least most of the time. I've heard many arguments for the existence of God, but somehow it's Federer's movement - its sublimity, its poise, its ease, its sheer impossibility - that gets me doubting my atheism. "Divine" seems too heavy-handed, but mechanical descriptions of his movement don't come close to encapsulating his gift.

Sometimes when i read comments of people typing its a little bit cringe i must admit xD, yes Rogers one-handed backhand is clean.. but jesus christ people.. its not hard to play with one-handed backhand.. the thing thats hard is to return a hard shot in different angels with a one-handed backhand. Thats why so many feel the more control with a two-handed backhand. Federers slice, there are alot of players on the tour that can slice a ball as he does. My favorite player is Rafa, but i dont read comments that he is the world best two handed backhander or does the amazing no one on the tour can do serves or slices xD.
Hey guys can you recommend some video clips like this one? I wanna play it as background when I work on my assignment, thx~
