He did a pretty good job alienating the crowd in many games that its hardly surprising to see him not getting any love when he's being a good boy for once. Why are they booing an underarm serve when Nadal returns 55 feet behind the baseline? Hah
@parkercrossland4105 жыл бұрын
@Enterfly Well, in reality it's because so many people (especially in Spain) see beauty, grace, and elegance as the foundations of both sport and culture. Any time someone threatens that culture with an oddball approach, it challenges their view of what the game is supposed to be and is seen as an insult.

kyrgios serves are long, fast, and really strong. when you know how someone’s serves are(especially kyrgios) you place yourself where the ball will go after it bounces. We do it a lot in tennis when someone has a great serve that wouldn’t get returned the same if it was close the the court.

its an awkward part of the rules that I never really understood. I was also taught "server's pace", yet it seems that the professional circuit has this rule where the returner can lift a racket and say "hold on a moment" and we see here that its enforceable by the umpire. I don't really understand it.
@scottwarren49983 жыл бұрын
@@kevinchang8090 i think the players are allowed to rest 10 secs. then, they must look at at eachother, so they know they are ready to play next point. Or maybe the rule is that the opponent should be ready when they server is ready to go, but nadal always shows he's not ready which should make nadal lose the point if nick plays and nadal doesnt return it

@Robinson Crusoe The server is the one who gets to set the pace of play in tennis, but Nadal is famous for taking his time between points even when he's receiving. Normally players let Nadal perform his prepoint ritual of touching every part of his face before playing each point, but Kyrgios specifically doesn't give a shit, so he served pretty aggressively even as the judge observed that Nadal wasn't set to return. The judge told him to redo the point, so after Kyrgios whiffed his first serve he took his time switching out rackets before his second serve. It's within the rules but definitely BM, and Kyrgios probably didn't need to switch out rackets but just wanted to send a jab back at Nadal; "if you waste my time, I get to waste your time."

I can not stop hating Kyrgios after watching his today's match in Melbourne. He could put Nadal under pressure in every game but he doesnt do that. He dont attack the serve very well. Unnecessarily moves forward and sideways only to lose the time and puts himself under pressure. At last it was Nadal who lost his serve at 5-4. In the 4th set tie break his carelessness was out of the world. Sorry, in both 3rd set and 4th set tie breaks. Some people say that he doesnt have winning mentality. They are wrong. He wanted to win badly. But he doesnt have the patience. He doesnt have a plan. He dont improve his game. He does the same things even if they dont work. He use the drop shot even if Nadal hits a passing shot and that too at key moments. And sadly he misses it badly. Medvedev is such a legend. He understands the game. He tries to win points. He understood that you can only win the match only if you win the points. Kyrgios, the moment he lost first point in opponents serve, he behaves as if he lost the game. And the moment he wins the first point he feels like he already won the game and start missing shots. He has the ability to win 10 slamz. But he is not going to win a single. He might not even reach final of a Slam.

As much of a dick Kyrgrios comes off as, Nadal deserves some of it. I hate how Nadal forces his opponents to wait a couple extra seconds for them to begin their serve, its blasphemy. I mean you are the returner and you raise your racket many times throughout the match bec you are not ready? That's malarkey man! Its clear that Nadal is trying to play head games with his opponents. I mean Kyrgios already has an ego, and idea of having to wait for him to serve while Nadal has had plenty of time to return is BS. The server has the right to serve at his pace, whether fast or slow. I rmr countless times Nadal using this tactic against Medvedev in the 2019 US Open Final. I don't see anyone telling Nadal to wait while he's serving taking his slow ass time. If that's gamesmanship... then Kyrgrios has every right to celebrate and have fun whether Nadal likes it or not.
