Surprisingly a lot of rallies Rublev didn’t go for big flat angled shots but was willing to put the safer shots to stay in long rallies and still won them. Against Medvedev the best grinder, that was very brave.

You can see the uncluthness from Medvedev which was the biggest factor the entire last year and the ATP finals where he literally lost three matches in three deciding set tie-break with two matches where he failed to close out the match on his serve. It’s not going to be the case this time as he looks much more confident and dialed-in than it was last year

What Rublev did in 2.5 hours, make that double and that's when you will see a "chance" to beat Djoker in Grand Slams. Make that 1.5 times for a non- GS match. Djoker is making the most of 5 setters within 4-5 hours with Roger and Nadal. 3 setters are a piece of cake for Djokovic now. The man is forged with fire.

Rublev is too conservative when it comes to tie break, could see his shots slowed down and he was less aggressive and that's how he lost the first one. Good that he won the match.
