Hurkacz seems like a really nice guy and some of his gets are absolutely incredible, he gives 110% on the court and moves incredibly well for someone his size. His one issue is he plays 90% of balls into the middle third, even his crosscourt forehands don't really move his opponent around much. In some of these long rallies, Medvedev is moving him all around the court and Hurkacz is just returning straight to Medvedevs racket. I didn't realise I was doing the same and at some point my coach said to me, you realise I'm not having to run a lot right? I think he needs to try and get a bit closer to the line on a lot of these shots, yes his unforced error counts are consistently low but when he comes up against guys like Daniil who will get a lot of these balls back in play he needs to be more willing to go for a winner. Really love watching him though and hope he can keep pushing deep into grand slams.

yeah, but lots of players do the same..hitting almost every ball to the middle of the court , and the opponents have very easy job to return them! only the top players (djoko, sinner, alcaraz, federer) are aiming the edge of the courts, the lines.

If you posted this under any other Hurkacz match this tournament, I would agree. This match though, Hurkacz has been attacking Medvedev all around the court when given the opportunity. He is not an offensive player, but he really stepped up his offense in this game and it was easy to see. Medvedev was out of it by the 4th set, but he was superb in the 5th. He did leave for 9 minutes before the start of it to regain some strength and then he held his serves by being SUPER accurate with his first serves. I think he hit the line more in the 5th set than all match. He conserved his stamina and then attacked when given opportunity with 3-3 0-15 in Hurkacz serve. He hit a couple of AMAZING shots and won the game.

Daniil's shot accuracy is incredible. How can he manage to send the ball just on the baseline or far corner of the court in crucial moments? Just incredible... I think he can hit a bottle from thirty-meter distance.

Agreed! Hs is accurate and always finds a flat to hit. Many people find his game boring because he hits not very strong, but i find it exactly interesting that he works on accuracy and outsmarts opponents. His tactics work against most players

Стили делают матчи, а также психология. Даниил намного комфортнее себя чувствует в полуфинале АО (он же 2 раза вроде играл в финале?), а вот Зверев только-только, судя по выходу через Алькараса, наконец вернул свои конкурентные позиции в топе рейтинга и ему будет очень сложно совладать с нервами, плюс Зверев не является столь неудобным противником, как Алькараз и Джокович. Да, когда он в блестящей форме, он может обыгрывать Медведева, но он не умеет так ломать игру "Осьминога", как упомянутые двое. Так что 53-47 в пользу Медведева, я бы сказал. Но в целом, лучше бы кому их них выиграть полегче, чтобы были силы биться с Синнером или Джоковичем в финале. Потому что Янник вполне способен там очутиться, поскольку усилился в прошлом сезоне.

⁠@@NeoWick99That’s why he wrote he is in top 4. Being in top 4, doesn’t mean he is 4th best, but that he is one of the 4 best players. Sometimes he is 3rd strongest, sometimes 2nd and sometimes 4th. Same with Hubi, he is top 10, meaning he is consistently in top 10 best players, but sometimes he plays like he is 5th, 6th or 7th best in the world. Depending on the form.

The level and wizardry in this match was worthy of a final. I am so glad it was 5 sets long. I was supporting Hubi, but seems like his legs were not fully recovered, hence could not set in time for his power shots. Still, some superb variation and great net plays. I love it! What were the tactics Hurkacz changed after being 2-1 down, anyone who watched the whole thing?

Слишком много сил уходит, а на последние игры ничего не остается. Больше рисковать и обострять ударами по линиям, или под линии, укороченными, менять ритм игры, ставить соперника в нестандартные положения, т.е больше работать головой, а не руками и ногами, экономить силы.

If Medvedev learns how to close offensive points more clinically and rapidly I am sure he will win more slams. It's incredible how consistent he is at putting the opponent in a disadvantageous position during the rally and then losing the point by putting the would-be final shot just way too comfortable for the other player to get. I hope he manages to do that because just 1 career slam is too little for him.

Zverev is ULTIMATE “lets ruin this party guy” , he did it to Djokovic at Olympics, now he did it again to Alcaraz. Everything was perfectly planned for epic semifinals between BIG 4 (Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner, Medvedev) and then comes Zverev and ruins it completely. He is such a strange character, Zverev, I cant figure him out to this day. His playing style, behaviour on and off the court etc.. nothing makes sense when it comes to him.. its all one big confusion.. he is always somewhere floating around, lets not forget that weird US open final against Thiem, that loss makes no sense at all etc etc.. Zverev is strange.
