Jeff Coffin proceeds through the airport security checkpoint. The officer instructs Mr Coffin to additional screening. Scanning his whole body with a metal detector, the officer asks, "what metal object do you have in your mouth?" Jeff tells the officer, "oh, that's my jaw bone.."

This is unbelievable, Coffin really rips in the beginning. I feel like he's kind of in the middle of a Redman and a James Carter... Still keeps his musicality and melodic improvisation but can still make it dirty and unique.

How cool is it that Bob's sharing the platform with the son of Jaco (Word of Mouth). Man I would've loved to be there. Jeff Apt Q-258 Sipe on drums. Kofi on keys as well. WOW!

Just loved this. I want more. I wish I hadn't shoved my tenor under my bed and forgot about it for 10 years. Just maybe, I could aspire to play like Jeff or Bob. These guys can really play.

Hi Lawrence, same happened to me (for 4 or 5 years)! If someone is still alive, it.s never too late. We mustn.t quarrel with the fate, it is, like it is. Out of the grave, we can start every day new. That.s what I do actually, nearly starting @ zero, but it.s great, to do it!! I work with basics, the course of Bill Evans "Language of Improvisation" by true fire, great!!!... and with Bob Mintzers books. Much slower than he does, but I do. That makes it count. Kind regards from Henry, Germany

Intense performance. I'm not really into jazz but I can appreciate it. I played in a dance band with Felix Pastorious in Florida, and my dad grew up playing music with Bob Mintzer and Tito Puente. These guys really know their instruments. Nice crowd there too.

Fun jam. Looks like everyone really enjoyed themselves. Fun to watch. Seen Jeff play quite a few times, loved seeing him in Miami with Charlie hunter, he can really play, and certainly has that jam/funk thing down as good as anyone. I really dig Bobs style, having fun, just steps in kills it. Just more like my personality is all.

When the rhythm section starts to seriously dig in and the bass starts walking behind Mintzer's solo.... UGH!!!!! Oh my gosh!!! that is groovin' so friggin' hard!!!! That kind of a groove - straight ahead intense swing - is an absolute blast to play with and Mintzer was kickin' it!!

I saw Jeff Coffin in concert at a Jazz Festival earlier this year, I've been a huge fan ever since. It's really inspired me to continue with my Alto Saxophone and continue to get better. I love jazz because of its freedom and the way you can express yourself. Jeff Coffin has become one of my idols.

Both guys are amazing in the fact they can each craft a solo in such a different and have both sound incredible! Also I think it was pretty interesting to hear the rhythm section during both Coffin's and Mintzer's solos. I feel like Felix went to more of a walking bass line at points with Mintzer. Such great musicianship all around! Thanks for posting!

@jthekk2 The 17 Sharp Scale is the F# Major Scale, here it si: F#, G#, A#, B, C#, D#, E Here it is the same scale wrote as a E## Major Scale (E## = F#) E##, F###, G###, A##, B##, C###, D## A B Minor scale transposed on a Bb became a C#minor Scale, that, in the same way, can be thougth as an B## minor Scale, that have not 17, but 16 sharps. (B##, C###, D##, E##, F###, G##, A##) In any case, you can easily add 12 sharp (1 octave) to the notes you are playing, the result will be the same scale ^^
