And another interesting thing about the tenor voice is that they don't all sound the same. Not all tenors are super light and bright tenors like the narrator in this video. Some tenors may sound like him, but he is an example of a super high tenor. In the world of opera, there are dramatic tenors and heldentenors around along with the more agile lyric and leggero tenors. Also, some tenors have better low ranges than some may stereotype them to have. As a baritone myself, some tenors that I have researched actually have a low range that is only SLIGHTLY weaker than my own. In fact, some of these guys actually have deeper speaking voices than I do.

I'm yet to identify my voice type. Because of my late start in voice lessons (age of 27, now 33), I had zero idea what type of voice I had and what I was supposed to practice as part of my repertoire. My speaking voice resembles a baritone, but my singing never feels good with lower notes. Though I can't cover my full voice above G# either. Yes, I can hit up to B4 with belting but never with the operatic voice. My voice teacher thinks I need to activate higher tones in time, with patience and practice. It's confusing. Always thought I could cover a nice A by now so I can sing arias like E Lucevan le Stelle, Una Furtiva Lagrima, Vesti La Giubba and such but it hasn't happened yet. Singing a nice A feels miles away, and it feels like I'm doing something wrong after my passaggio takes over around E & F.
@ZENOBlAmusic Жыл бұрын
@@sertacsilbastan The speaking voice is not important, because people speak from the throat and you sing from your diaphragm. What is your voice teacher telling you to do after the passaggio? Or more importantly what type of technique are you learning, I am referring to what type of school from opera? Is it mask placement? Your teacher is essentially correct, it can take a long time to build up to the higher notes. Look at Franco Corelli who also started very late. He was already singing as a professional tenor for a few before he was able to sing up to C5 and C#5. That being said some tenors just don' really have a high C.
@sertacsilbastan Жыл бұрын
@@ZENOBlAmusic Thank you for your response, that's very much appreciated! As to answer your question, my voice teacher always tells me to approach the passaggio with a lighter approach instead of a heavier one - and it works when I'm going towards G#. She mentions that if I'm able to execute a nice vibrato on any given note, the placement is in the right place. We don't use terms like mask placement but we are still working towards a connected sound from the lowest note until my highest. I'd be okay with not having a lyric tenor range, so I'm not after singing C5. But I should probably be reaching at least B4 during practice to have a nice and rich A4. I have A4, but not covered yet. Funny enough, although we never really practiced any baritone repertoire, my lower notes below C3 are more open now. Maybe not as rich as the greatest baritones, but I can sing F2. When I'm practicing the tenor range, I find myself resonating like Kaufmann, instead of Juan D. Florez. So I definitely have thicker vocal folds, and also my voice has changed recently. People tell me that it sounds lower than what it was 5 years ago. (Vocal puberty lol)

Ask my question here as well as I see this is a newer video than the baritone one.. I think I am in between tenor and baritone? anyhow, now to my question that led me to these videos of what is comfortable tone of ones voice , - Do we have one or two tones that our voice no matter we would do voice acting or singing best rests in ?? I downloaded the app Bandmate tuner as an example and tried to find my natural breath/tone , and then let my voice out and I found that most of the times my voice lands on Bb or A... -that is in the bass clef not in the Treble clef of this app... what does that mean? is there such a thing that ones natural breath of relaxing out air on a tone generates a given note every time for every unique voice?? that we have one note that is ours so to speak? and if that is the case can it help my voice and musical training to for example buy a wind instrument, like a chromatic harmonica in the same key, in the key of Bb in my case and practice my breathing techniques and musical ear training by a chromatic harmonica in specially the same key, Bb, as my voice seems to naturally best rest in? hope you see the logic of my question? Been thinking to buy a chromatic harmonica as it is beautiful instrument and is also easy to carry with me everywhere.. people however say, jut get a harmonica in C .... - but, as I discovered this natural breath and tone of my voice I got interested to be a bit different in my choices and so came here to ask about these understandings of ones voice and if we do have a note that is our voice's natural note, tone?... Hope to hear what you think of my idea! 😘😇 this channel is really great in teaching things straight to the point! 👌

A counter tenor is more along the lines of or equivalent to that of a soprano or mezzo
@30DaySinger15 күн бұрын
A countertenor is generally more equivalent to a soprano or mezzo-soprano, as their range lies in the higher vocal registers. Countertenors typically sing in the alto or mezzo-soprano range, but with the unique timbre and technique that allow them to reach notes typically sung by female voices. They often use a mix of their head voice and falsetto for the higher notes.

this is not accurate at all. That's a D3 not a D2. The video says the tenor can barely sing below B2, near an octave above D2. This is also inaccurate. A tenor can comfortably sing roughly down to G2 or somewhat lower depending on how low of a tenor they are. I am a lyric tenor with a weak D2 as my absolute bottom. The passaggio is not that far off.
