Oh wow! Todd at Tensa Outdoor here. Thank you Shug! We keep meaning to make all these great videos to tell our story, because the walls of text on our website don't work for many people, but Shug keeps beating us to it. Besides, we suck at it, and can't even play bass on fire or anything like that. Who needs a marketing department when there's Shug? I did cringe at one thing shown a few times: with Tensa Solo, it is IMPORTANT to place the guylines _immediately_ above the hammock hang point, resting on or touching it. Not an inch or two higher. That's because when the guylines and the hammock are pulling in opposite directions on the pole, they need to be at a single point or virtually so. Otherwise when the pull points are separated as shown, the pole can buckle. It has happened more than once! In fact, as he laid down, I feared Shug was going to demonstrate another way to drop in a Tensa product after the timeless Tensa4 Taco stunt of 2018. For Trekking Treez, we made a special metal part the Hubz that guarantees that all lines pull from essentially the same point on the pole, but with Solo, where we prioritized simplicity and flexibility with different kinds of lines, well, it's possible to get in trouble. Once again, we had no part in the making of this video, and didn't know it was up until it was. Shug: we're going to gift you a new Tensa4 because we've made a lot of refinements in the 5 years since you got yours, and I'm guessing your exposure has helped us sell at least dozens, if not hundreds.

I only slid them higher for the video shot so folks could see how the Amstel loop is on there to hold the hammock. My hope is if folks get a Solo...they take time to follow tour directions and take all my demos with a grain od salt, sand and sugar. I appreciate your offer of a new Tensa but mine work real good. I'm running out of room in my Nut-Hut!!!

You are such a gem. It’s funny/amusing/strange how you can go to their website and get some information, but come away with important unanswered questions. I come to your videos and I get all of the essential information that I want and some information I didn’t even know I needed, but I did. I am planning an epic cross country road trip to visit National and state parks, relatives, and high school friends and I want camp out of my 4Runner. But, I have back problems and need to sleep in my hammock and as you know availability of trees can be difficult if you are using rest stops, public lands, and parks for overnight camping. You answered some critical questions for me, so thank you.

I got to try out the Tensa solo last weekend and had some interesting finagling with the tarp. My Superior Gear 10' tent is quite a bit shorter than the tarp they supply. I just hung the hammock right on the ball and let to challenges with the tarp which ended up being much longer on the tree side. Tried out some suspension (with loads of spare line laying on the ground) and was having a hard time getting the hammock off the ground without the ridgeline being super rigid. Got a lot more to practice before I take this setup into a rainy scenario.

The ol' Darth sector seven is 200 feet around me...wherever I am. Currently somewhere in Lower Slovovialand.

I have gotten together with a drummer a couple of times. That is about it. We just work on timing and groove.

What is all that pole, pipe, big screw pegs, etc for...? just in case we go hammock camping to the dessert or to the middle of the ocean...? 😅😂🤣 🤔...Isn't it more light weight and multipurpose to carry some yards of thick rope just in case the trees or anchorage spots are to far away from each other...?

I just prefer this system. Neat and tidy. No thick rope. It works and I don't have to search for stuff in the woods. To each their own as my Mom always said.

Loved watching you for years Shug 👍I've always meant to ask, I always thought that Shug is a particularly Scottish appellation for Hugh. Do you have a Scottish connection or does this travel?

I'm Irish born. Derry, N. Ireland. Mom born in Tipperary. Shug comes from bluegrass stuff. Kind of a long campfire story but 16:28 into this video explains it...kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJu1oJ5rodB6ias
