Ryan, taking your wife along on this flight reminded me of the first time I took my wife up in a Cessna150 after I got my PPL, over 40 years ago. It was a short, smooth, scenic flight. After we landed, I asked how she enjoyed the experience. She said, and I quote, "I don't see how anyone, in his right mind, would do this willingly." (BTW, we've been happily married for 61+ years.) So, "To each his own". Blessings to you and your family.

Also in Steamies they had the best modern furniture you could imagine buying all the way from England.. So we had back then boutiques, our house furnished with English modern furniture and the real flokati rugs from Greece, we wanted for nothing. Those were the best days before independence. For you Ryan back then no trash littered the streets or anywhere. It was so clean.

Agreed with most of what you have said @Juliereid . I say this from the perspective of a patriotic U.S. citizen: Any American that can travel abroad or better yet immerse themselves for weeks/months in another country/culture, do it. It is the absolute best way to open your eyes, your heart, and just reset your perspective! You become so aware of how good we have it….and also that we get many things wrong. All of humanity is connected, all more alike than we are different. You can be both patriotic and appreciative of other countries and cultures at the same time, regardless of where you call home.
