These videos are fantastic! I only wish I had watched them five years ago when I first started training. But it's never too late to learn from a master. Many, many thanks.

This is what I've been looking for. I've struggled with this techneque, simply because my timing is always off. Please keep posting videos because they are very informative.

very cohesive lesson in my view:) it's really about having that hand agility and timing, allowing you to choose your option.

Another excellent video! I really like the point to how to address technique based on uke's foot positioning, that was new to me. I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to many more :)

Hey Jaime. Good to see you again. I do not know if you remember me, but I trained with three rivers Aikido St.Louis. Spent quite a bit of time logging hours at seminars with you when I was a 3rd Kyu. Kevin is my name. Great instruction. Loved it. Perfectly taught. Felt like home for sure :)

Is it possible for me a disabled veteran (Herniated Disc L-5, S-1) to be able to learn Aikido?
@davidcunninghamjr68718 жыл бұрын
Hey brother you should be fine so long as you pay attention to accepting and embracing the fall. Other words don't fight it and you"ll be fine.
@tenshindojocho7 жыл бұрын
JJ Castleberry for sure...you just have to adapt aikido around your life style. don't worry about the falls...that is not necessary in learning to be a good aikidoka
@GhostRidersouthwest5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you’ll just have to train within your physical capabilities.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. One question however that I don't see addressed in any style of Aikido is - what if uke is of comparable upper body strength to you, and he comes in with both arms stiff? How do you cut down the elbow then? Is the extension of your arm really enough to deal with that?
@muzickabibliotekagrebic36208 жыл бұрын
Atemi my friend, simply atemi. Distract his attention and then throw him freely.
@shihonage8 жыл бұрын
Zorro Radic Atemi makes it a two-tick technique, as opposed to one-tick technique, thus it would not work in randori. You could as well just do that direct strike to the neck instead, rather than bothering with two-tick technique.
@tenshindojocho8 жыл бұрын
+GR you simply do something different...you never force a technique. that is why I showed to do just an evasion

it does matter if arms are still. remember you don't care how they take ukemi just as long you don't get grabbed. the ukemi Kevin is taking just gives him the ability to conserve energy and to protect him self

if u want to test aikido in real life situation you have to bring a professional fighter without a pre knowledge on how to attack like aikidokas do , let him attack in his style and try to apply your aikido techniques and see if it works, otherwise its not efficient because you are sketching the scene, i am talking martial or combat here not the art form or the other aspects ... please i am not criticizing you or your style i am just trying to shed light on aikido as a fighting or martial/combat style. people might think that they can defend themselves in a street fight with aikido and this is far from the truth, street fights are totally different, very fast and unpredictable and much much more ... if you don't believe me all you have to do is to try it, I've been there and it was an eye opening for me...
@tenshindojocho4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the info. I am a street fighter first and when I say that i mean i grew up in east salinas so i understand fights and i dont mean little preppy ones ...i mean gang related and also from just some very good street fighters. I was lucky when I mainly first got into aikido I was Intriduced to Seagal senseis aikido and have learned to take this style into what I know from the streets. I know for a fact the methods we teach works and works great. I agree with you that the typical mindset of aikido out there will just not work. I know many aikido folks may disagree with me and even hate what I said but it's the truth. I have been fortunate to travel a little around the world to see all this aikido stuff first hand. I am also very grateful to have had the upbringing I did and certain friends that helped me along the way. I have crossed trained with some good fighters and have no doubts about what I do.
