To add to the already tense situation militarily and diplomatically in Niger, the coup leaders have ordered to police to expel the French ambassador, despite President Macron making clear his view that the junta has no authority to make those decisions. FRANCE 24's International Affairs Chief Editor Robert Parsons tells us more.

Since you don't recognize the new government, don't you think removing your ambassador and embassy would be the best way to demonstrate that you 'don't recognise the new leadership?' The thought is simple and would be easy to follow it up with an action. Instead expert after expert is called in the studio to explain the self-evident situation and the French/EU/US narrative. They are not worth listening to.

None of these so called experts is paying attention to the root causes of the coups because they are biased. It is excellent for Blacks all over the world to be quiet under the bondage of European exploitation and consequent superiority. Yes, Africa was quiet for the past decade while Europe was enriching themselves from Africa. The Egyptians had believed that the Israelites will remain slaves for ever. Humans never change.

The climate crisis and Russia's invasion of Ukraine have focused a lot of people on to the idea of moving away from fossil fuels... But that means that Nuclear is the only viable alternative unless we dramatically adjust our energy usage in the West (which, of course, we won't, because we're selfish idiots). So, while until recently nuclear was seen as the less-favourable power solution, which affected how may stations were built and how much uranium was required... that has all changed, and securing uranium supplies is going to be absolutely vital for developed nations interests over the next few years. France has said that they have sufficient supplies and reserves of uranium for the next two years, but countries tend not to think in such short terms. They'll be looking at what the situation will be like in 10, 20, 50 years. France needs easy access to Uranium, and it does not need Russia creating a monopoly. Sadly, for the people of Niger, I don't actually see France backing down on this one unless something significant changes in Russia. I hope I'm completely and utterly wrong, though.
@Realone882

@peterclarke7240 So what does this have to do with the people of Niger and what they want for their own country? Do you think France is entitled to Niger's uranium deposits and supply?

@peterclarke7240. That’s France’s problem, not Niger’s. If they don’t want to pay full price plus shipping, handling and billions in tax revenue then they can go throw their weight around in Kazakhstan, Canada, or Australia where it’s even more expensive.

What has France or the West done to make sure that good governance and strong institutions are put in place? What has France done when citizens complain of reck elections and inconsistency in electorial process? A mother who stays silence when two sons are fighting and only pick side when his favourite is loosing the battle is indirectly responsible for the family destruction because one day, that son which you always undermine will set the whole house ablaze so no one will survive. When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes a duty.

Yet another commentator who is unable to actually discuss the REASONS behind the recent coups. He presenting it as though the military leaders woke up one morning, bored, and decided to enact a coup. In Niger, we know the people support the coup because of their wretched economic state. In Gabon, we know the people support the coup because dynasty was imposed on them since the late 1960's. So can coups happen anywhere else, based on these two criteria? You betcha. Unlimited terms of office, changing the constitution for personal gain, enriching oneself and not supporting the people with their economic ascension, these are all valid reasons that any citizen in Europe would support. Western reports have a switch in their brain. They think one way when it comes to the West, and a different way when it comes to Africa.

Quite the contrary. Nothing excites the French people than having vassals. Even the thought of it is dopamine in our brains. And Africans are the perfect and the weakest ones available. Pourquoi s'en priver? As we love to say. Especially given the fact that Africans can quietly accept a lot of humiliating things no other people or country on earth can accept or put up with. This is like a free low hanging riped fruits for us. France tried the same with Arabs and we got bloodied with the Algerian war. Algerians met and surpassed our barbarity and brutality during that war. We cut our losses and ran. Since then, we have the utmost respect for Algerians and Arabs in general. Sorry to say this, but subsaharan Africans are jokers for the French people and politicians and elite.
