This video popped into my recommended (some people are from ether indeed haha), I don't want to get into Academia but have several friends doing/thinking of doing PhDs so I really sympathize. I wish you much success and happiness. Hope everything goes well with the review :)

1 paper? Haven't you already exceeded that? Also I feel like if someone is a truly terrible teacher, they probably wouldnt get tenure no matter what.

I have exceeded that just a smidge, lol. They care a lot about incorporating students in independent projects and research, so you have to do that for your scholarship requirements, too. And probably yes, but the committee would try to help them be a better teacher before they go up for tenure.
