No, definitely not. Pain is the most primal fear by a mile, being eaten is scary because it’s painful, that isn’t something intrinsic to being eaten. Zombies are scary because getting torn to pieces and getting irrevocably sick both hurt really bad.

I loved MEL's incarnation in the Prime-continuity Legion comics from before Flashpoint (the ones where Lightning Lass was always Light Lass and never had to switch her powers), he's a cop who helps take down their version of Lightning Lord after he takes over the minds of his species. And by "take down", I mean Lightning Lord starts screaming at him while sticking one of his sparking fingers in his face and Tenzil just bites his finger off to prove that he cannot be bothered to care in the slightest.

Create a fictional physical explanation, like he's the only small body capable of strong gravity. He's a small scale star in the core, with a humanoid shape and outward projection.
