I've always appreciated how Tenzin put Zaheer on the defensive. Tenzin is the ONLY Airbending Master with decades of experience, and I love that the showrunners didn't diminish that by having Zaheer beat him one-on-one. It was only when Zaheer had backup that he managed to beat Tenzin.

Tenzin vs Zaheer is one of my favourite fights in the show. If it wasn't for interference Tenzin very clearly would have won as he is really an air bending master while Zaheer while skilled is not an experienced bending fighter so I don't think he's meant to be the strongest bender of all time.

Exactly. Zaheer is obviously a skilled fighter. He was dangerous enough to be locked up by the white lotus as a non-bender, but his air bending skills aren’t comparable to Tenzin’s. Tenzin pretty comfortable blocks everything that Zaheer throws at him which landing his own shots and doesn’t even look tired doing it up until it becomes a 4 v 1.

I think the pan away from Tenzin is also supposed to make us think he might be dead--As long as I'm breathing, following the previous breathtaking episode, I mean, they knew what they were doing.

Zaheer is fairly skilled fighter but I'm pretty sure he gets as far as he does because most people don't know how to fight air benders, that's why Kya put up a fight she grew up with Tenzin and that's why Tenzin had him looking stupid because he's a Master and Zaheer is just a talented amateur. I genuinely think he could've held his own in that 3 on 1 without P'li sniping at him.

That has to be the most intense episode in both series. It just had so much emotion and impact emotionally and physically. Wild. They didn't hold back with the brutality and Zaheer is quite a villain, they literally just laid it on Tenzin though he was out-numbered at the end, and the glide off-screen made it more intense that they couldn't even show the beat-down.

Bumi must’ve invested all his stats in HP or something that dude really knows how to fall off a cliff. What’s this like the 3rd time he’s survived a fall like that?

I love how even though Zaheer is extremely talented, he’s still nothing compared to a genuine air bending master. A lot of the time in season 1 we just see Tenzin get cooked because of the situation so it’s easy to forget just how powerful and skilled he is.

You are right in the thick of things man, can’t wait!! Season 4 won’t let you down either, I think you’ll really enjoy it too!!

I have never been more concerned for a fictional characters safety than with that slow pan away from Tenzin 😭

Tenzin vs the Red Lotus is up there with only Zuko and Azula in the last agni kai and Aang and the Firelord imo. Tenzin is the GOAT of this series.

I think Kya vs Ming Hua was the best fight. It was SO creative. I expected more from the air vs air fight in the creativity department

One thing I loved to discover about the graphic novels was the agreement between Zuko and Aang. He knew his family had a pretty shaky past and grasping for power was always a possibility. He made Aang promise that if he ever started to go down that path, that Aang would destroy him. Not stop him. Destroy him. So when Zuko became the Fire Lord, he tried to do his very best. In fact, he tried to return the land conquered by the fire nation, giving it back to the earth nation... But... something happened that he didn't expect. People were making families, across the bending lines. Mako and Bolin are prime examples of this. Fire benders didn't want to leave, and earth benders didn't want to lose their partners. Zuko didn't feel it was right to split up these families based on bending abilities, and word got back to Aang. And Aang, hearing that the Fire Lord was keeping land that didn't belong to the fire nation anymore... came prepared to kill his best friend. But when he arrived, and discovered what was really going on, they made a monumental decision. Rather than tear families apart, they created Republic City. A place for all benders.
