For those who don't know much about this guy, soon after this interview was recorded, Scarpa, his son and another man got into a shootout with another group. The third man was killed and Scarpa himself was SHOT in the FACE..... yet he managed to SURVIVE . He lost an eye. He was soon put back in prison and died there of AIDS in 1994 which was about a year and a half after this interview. There are recent interviews here on youtube of Scarpas daughter who you can see here in this report where she speaks about her life as Scarpas daughter. If you enjoyed watching this you will enjoy those videos also.

@@Seanjrambow Being an informant was just another aspect of the man which further proved he was a sociopath through and through. There was very little which he truly cared about, almost nothing was sacred. He either cared for things/people enough to kill for, or he cared so little that killing meant nothing. There was no in between. Any reason was usually a good reason for taking life. I'm sure being a made man was so appealing because it allowed him to live like he wanted, and had to answer to almost nobody.

The absolute best part of the 11/12/92 story is that a month later Scarpa did this (from Wikipedia):" On December 29, 1992, while under house arrest with an electronic monitoring device, Scarpa lost an eye in a shootout with other mobsters. Two Lucchese family mobsters, Michael DeRosa and Ronald Moran, had threatened Joey Scarpa, Gregory's son, over a drug deal. Climbing out of bed, the elder Scarpa drove with Joey to DeRosa's house and shot DeRosa. Moran fired back and hit Scarpa in the eye. Back at his house, Scarpa allegedly poured some Scotch Whisky into his wound, assured the authorities everything was fine, and later went to the hospital. Prosecutors revoked Scarpa's house arrest and sent him to jail."

He didn't do the dirty work in regards to his brother. Salvatore was set up by Greg in a staged robbery. He had his brother murdered because Sal realized that Greg was an informant. Now, if he had balls, Greg would have either taken care of his brother if he wanted to go that route, but even better he should have faced up to the allegations since they were true and dealt with the consequences, which of course would have been death. That would have taken balls.

It's like tge Whitey Bulger thing. It exposes the incompetence and at times corruption of FBI agents. Quite a few FBI agents had expressed concerns that he was using the Top Echelon Confidential Asset program to advance his career. He knew too much about their poor internal controls. It's really a tragedy because he and the Colombo and other families destroyed so many lives and businesses. They helped sink NYC into the craphole that it has become.

The FBI strategy at the time was to find a ruthless fella with an independent streak and turn him out by appealing to his violent impulses and selfish greed. They would then encourage him to run rampant on the inside, causing chaos and making the organization vulnerable from pressure within as well as pressure without.

I remember seeing this original episode when it aired.. and it really marked the end of an era a short time after on how things used to be..when social clubs littered the street corners in Brooklyn, and wiseguys could still be seen hanging on the same street corners they did for 30yrs.. when wiseguys lived next door to each other on regular streets in Brooklyn.. after all this, and all the murders and indictments, wiseguys closed the social clubs, packed there bags and hightailed it out of dodge for safe suburban neighborhoods on long island, staten island, and parts of jersey to live incognito. Only to have chinese takeouts and Spanish bodegas take over there old haunts, clubs and stores..it marked the end of an era on how things used to be in the streets of NY

Outside of Roy Demeo, Scarpa was the most ruthless killer in the mob in the post-Murder Inc. era. This man definitely killed more than 2 people. He had a hired limo driver to drive his daughter to school. He tried to force himself on Scarpa’s daughter and signed his own death warrant. Scarpa killed him. They didn’t touch on the fact that Scarpa had been an informant for decades and some believe that’s why operated with impunity. Allegedly the FBI used flew him to Mississippi to do things to a suspect that they couldn’t to find out where the bodies of the activists were buried. His mistress went with him and done an interview about going to a motel in Mississippi and awaiting his return.

But I know the stereotype of southern people we need education fornicate with with relatives and all that we have racist statues and we're bigots. The whole whole scenario plays out good Northern SJW mobster teaches bad Southern Man about his ways. Like I said you have to live in the south to understand what I'm saying. Its 100% a shame what happened to them kids over there really is and it's not right. Whoever really did it deserves to pay with their life. People perpetuating this urban legend it kind of does an injustice to the families of the victims. Although a yankee his silk shirts and loafers absolutely did not come down here and straighten anything it doesn't work like that. But God bless you man I'm not attacking you I'm just venting. Mainly about the stereotypes and all the BS.
